The Elder Scrolls 6 will include a character based off of prominent community member Loranna Pyrel. The Elder Scrolls community worked hard to make this happen, raising a considerable amount of money in an effort to have Pyrel immortalized in The Elder Scrolls 6.
Fans of Bethesda’s fantasy RPG series have been waiting for the next game for a long time, with The Elder Scrolls 6 revealed back in 2018 at E3. The long wait has been problematic for another prominent community member who will also be immortalized in The Elder Scrolls 6, Shirley Curry, who expressed concern years ago that the game might not come out in time for her to play it.
Now, The Elder Scrolls 6 is set to feature a new NPC based upon a member of the series’ online community. This character will be based upon Loranna Pyrel, a fan who ran a popular roleplay campaign based on the series. The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages wiki community tried to get Pyrel into the game through Bethesda’s charity campaign that would see the winner create a character for The Elder Scrolls 6. With the winning bid at $85,300, the team was narrowly outbid, but Bethesda reached out with a private opportunity to still create the character, if the team could raise the same amount as the winning bid for charity on its own. It ended up achieving just that, and announced that it had completed the process of designing the character with Bethesda on October 8.
For the unfamiliar, Loranna Pyrel’s RP was so impressive that it ended up actually impacting the development of the series. The roleplay saw the involvement of former Bethesda dev Ted Peterson, who said that he would use the RP as a sort of test bed to play with actual themes and plot points that would be included in future titles. The influence went both ways, as Peterson incorporated some of the concepts that originated from the RP into the actual franchise. Sadly, Loranna Pyrel passed away in 2024 rather suddenly, shocking the community and leading them to work towards this effort.
With no official reveal as to when The Elder Scrolls 6 will release, it could be a long time before players get an opportunity to meet the characters based upon Loranna Pyrel, the Skyrim Grandma, or the winner of the Bethesda charity. The UESP has pointed out that the game has already raised $170,000 for charity thus far, and it’s possible that number could rise before the title reaches gamers.
