Escape from Duckov has been out on Steam for just 10 days, but the top-down extraction shooter is already passing player milestones. While Escape from Duckov may look like a parody of Escape from Tarkov, the duck-themed shooter is giving fans of the genre a breath of fresh air from the intense multi-player gameplay of extraction games.
The premise behind extraction shooters – drop into an area, find loot, and get out alive – has been around for years. Games like Escape from Tarkov, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Delta Force are some of the higher-rated games in the extraction genre. And with Escape from Tarkov set to release on Steam in November, fans have been looking for something new and fresh to hold them over.
Escape from Duckov Passes 300,000 Concurrent Players
On October 26, Escape from Duckov hit a peak of 300,645 players. This is an impressive milestone, considering the extraction shooter is not a PvP game like its multiplayer counterparts. Escape from Duckov is a single-player extraction game with the same goal as the others: to find the loot and survive. This relaxed version of the genre has clearly resonated with fans. Even with a price point of $15.83 USD, Escape from Duckov has a higher player base than free-to-play extraction games like Arena Breakout: Infinite.
The top-down PvE experience brings a fresh look to the extraction shooter genre, with other games focusing on a first-person experience. Escape from Duckov has the normal elements of an extraction game, but developer Team Soda adds in base-building and campaign missions to give the game over 50 hours’ worth of replayable content. Players can expect constantly changing loot, enemies, and weather each time they load a new game.
Even though Escape from Duckov doesn’t have multiplayer, the game does support modding. Some in the modding community are already working on adding multiplayer and co-op to the game.
