Genesis GV60 Magma, Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Spied Testing With A Porsche Taycan

    • The hot version of the Genesis GV60 was spotted testing ahead of its official reveal later this year.
    • It was part of a convoy of Hyundai-Kia prototypes, which was led by a Porsche Taycan.
    • A Hyundai Ioniq 6 N featuring the facelifted front was also spotted in the same video.

Genesis may be toning down some of the aggressive design cues of the GV60 Magma Concept for production. One camouflaged prototype recently spotted undergoing cold-weather testing looked a lot like the standard GV60. However, it still retains the concept’s rear wing, which we could make out through the camo, and it was the key detail that gave this away as a Magma car.

The orange-painted shark fin antenna on the roof, painted the signature Magma shade of orange, complemented by two additional roof fins and the absence of roof rails indicates this is the hot version.

The plastic cladding around the prototype’s wheel arches isn’t as prominent as on the concept. Much of the study’s aggressive stance came courtesy of these overfenders, which allowed the designers to push the wheels further apart, giving the impression of increased track width and a more hunkered-down look. With its lowered suspension, it looked more like a hot hatch than a crossover coupe.

The concept’s bolt-on fender flares also had two vents in the rear, which also seem absent on the prototype, and the car seems to sit higher on its suspension, too. Mind you, these details may still change on the finished production car, but other than the aforementioned rear wing and the roof aero, this didn’t look all that special.

Unique 21-inch wheels completed the concept’s exterior makeover, and Genesis will surely want to differentiate the production model through its rim design. The GV60 in the video has a far less aggressive set of more typical-looking Genesis wheels finished in flat black. We’ve not seen this exact wheel design on another Genesis model, so they could be what the series model ships with.

In the video uploaded by CarSpyMedia, the GV60 Magma prototype is accompanied by a Hyundai Ioniq 6 N also hidden under camo, a fully uncovered Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and a Porsche Taycan. We don’t know if the Taycan was there for benchmarking purposes or just as a support vehicle, but it was leading the convoy in all the shots.

Just as important as the GV60 Magma sighting is the Ioniq 6 N. The spicy variant of Hyundai’s streamlined sedan will debut with the model’s mid-lifecycle refresh, bringing a completely new front fascia design. We still don’t know the exact performance specs of either of these hot upcoming EVs, but their dual-motor powertrains will produce over 600 horsepower, giving them 0-60 times in the low 3-second range.

Both the Genesis GV60 Magma and Hyundai Ioniq 6 N are expected to be revealed this year and will likely debut in the U.S. for the 2026 model year.
