Despite its whimsical graphics, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a game with surprising depth when it comes to mechanics, and players are already discovering ways to combine skills for epic combos. As every team has three Chasers, and players can always switch to at least one of these, tips and tricks for playing Chasers are arguably the most important.
However, despite there being a dedicated tutorial for Chasers and the other roles, not everything is taught in the game. For example, while players are taught how to pass and shoot, including the option to charge up these throws, it’s not clear at first how to cancel these actions.
How To Cancel Passes & Shots In Quidditch Champions
Passes and shots are both charged up by holding down the Right Trigger on the default settings or A/Cross (X) on the alternative settings. For KBM players, it is done with the Right Mouse button. With more power, the Quaffle will reach its intended target faster, and players also have a bit of time to focus on exactly where it is they are aiming.
When Would You Want To Cancel Your Shot Or Pass?
However, there will be times when players charge up a pass for a teammate who suddenly gets wiped out by a Bludger or otherwise flies away. In terms of shooting, the player might have flown too close to the hoops or past them, or perhaps the Keeper has returned, making a shot futile.
In these situations, where the player is going super slow due to having a fully charged Quaffle and with no other option than to throw it into the air, players will want to cancel their pass or shot.
Using The Evade Skill To Cancel Shots & Passes
To cancel your pass or shot in Quidditch Champions, simply use the Evade skill, which rolls the player to one side or another. This is done with the Left Bumper or B/Circle depending on controls, and for KBM it is the Space button.
This will immediately cancel the previous action and Chasers can continue flying normally with the Quaffle after rolling one way or the other.
Uses For The Cancel Combo In Quidditch Champions
Canceling shots or passes by dodging doesn’t always have to be a last resort when players change their minds, it can actually be used as an intended tactic.
Bear in mind that there is a cooldown on the Evade skill, so this combo cannot be immediately repeated.
For example, when Chasers are 1 on 1 with the Keeper, they can charge up their shot, but at the last minute roll away to another hoop and then tap it in for an easy goal.
When racing up the field and an opponent is closing in from behind, players could charge up a pass to a teammate, making themselves an easy target to tackle. At the last moment, however, cancel the pass by dodging right or left, away from the tackle.
There are likely many more creative uses for this combo, and it will be exciting to see what players come up with, especially when teaming up with friends via crossplay in Quidditch Champions.
