How to Complete All Goblin King Quests in The Forge
The Goblin King is a scammer, though he initially pretends to be a helpful buddy. While he runs off with your stash, he will still assist you in opening the Goblin Cave. Unlike the Cure for Isaac quest, this one is a long series of tasks that require significant time, gold, and ore farming. Specifically, the Goblin King gives you five quests in The Forge. Here’s a summary:
- Goblin King 1: 5,000 Gold Coins
- Goblin King 2: 10,000 Gold and x3 Topaz (from Basalt Core)
- Goblin King 3: 15,000 Gold and x5 Diamonds (from Basalt Core and Basalt Veins)
- Goblin King 4: 20,000 Gold and x5 Emeralds (from Basalt Core and Basalt Veins)
- Let’s get over It!: 25,000 Gold and x5 Rubies (from Basalt Veins)
These quests are grind-heavy, asking for a total of 75,000 Gold. Since earning gold is a big deal in this game, and some ores (like Rubies) require breaking Basalt Veins, you’ll likely need to purchase a Mythril Pickaxe for 67,500 Gold. Altogether, you’ll need at least 142,500 Gold to complete all the Goblin King quests in The Forge.
These are some of the fastest ways to earn gold and tackle the Goblin King’s quests without wasting time:
- Finish Captain Rowan’s quests, each granting around 10,000 Gold or more.

- Sell essences dropped by enemies for a good chunk of wealth.
- Get a Cobalt Pickaxe (worth 10,000 Gold) early on and mine Basalt Cores in the Ruined Cave for premium materials. Then craft 100% pure weapons and armor using 30+ of these ores, like Cobalt, Topaz, and Quartz. Make sure to forage for excellent-quality tools, as each can sell for over 1,000 Gold.

Once you give the Goblin King everything he needs, he’ll disappear. Simply press E near his throne to receive the Goblin Cave Key. Head to the cave’s door, unlock it, and enter. Keep going north, then east toward the waterfalls. Inside the waterfalls, you’ll see what looks like a rock wall, but it’s actually a door. Go in from the left, and the black cat awaits in Descent’s Beginning; just pick it up.
Now, teleport back to Tomo and return the cat. Completing the Tomo the Explorist quest rewards you with 25,000 Gold, the Professional Rescuer badge, the CatLover title, and other benefits like more stash capacity, stamina, and experience for leveling up.
