Where to Get Chespin in Pokemon Legends Z-A

    Species: The Spiny Nut Pokemon

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Chespin Side Quest

Chespin is a Grass-type pokemon that evolves into Quilladin at Level 16. At Level 36, it evolves into Chesnaught, a Grass-Fighting type pokemon. To find Chespin, Pokemon Legends Z-A players must go to the right side of the Rouge Sector – the northern sector of Lumiose City – and look for a taxi driver standing in front of his taxi and a particularly aggressive Chespin.

On the map, it’s just north of Restaurant Le Wow, a short walk northeast from the central plaza. Talk to the taxi driver to begin the ‘A Feisty Chespin’ side quest.

Legends Z-A ‘A Feisty Chespin’ Side Quest Walkthrough

This side quest is relatively simple, as all you have to do is beat the Chespin three times in a row without a break. That might sound tough, but if you bring along a strong Fire-type pokemon (like a leveled Litleo), you should be able to take it down three times in a row without too much of a problem.

The Chespin spawns at Level 14, so as long as you have a pokemon around the same level and a few potions, you should be able to defeat it if you don’t have access to Fire attacks.

After being defeated for the third time, it will rear up to attack you again, then the taxi driver will propose that it join your party so it can satisfy its fighting spirit. Agree to his idea, and you will complete the side quest and get Chespin in Pokemon Legends Z-A!

Where to Get Fennekin in Pokemon Legends Z-A

    Species: The Fox Pokemon

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Fennekin

Fennekin is a Fire-type pokemon that evolves into Braixen at Level 16. At Level 36, it will evolve into Delphox, a Fire-Psychic type pokemon. To find Fennekin, Pokemon Legends Z-A players must go to the side quest marker in an alley just to the northwest of the central plaza, near the entrance to the Rouge District, just above the canal on the map.

Look for a woman in a blue coat, who is standing next to a sleeping Fennekin, which appears to be a bit under the weather. Talk to the woman to begin the “Get Well, Fennekin” side quest.

Legends Z-A ‘Get Well, Fennekin’ Side Quest Walkthrough

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Fennekin Side Quest 2

To complete ‘Get Well, Fennekin’, Pokemon Legends Z-A players must first visit a retired herbalist at Cafe Classe to find out what’s wrong with the Fennekin. If you have not already discovered Cafe Classe and cannot fast travel to get there quickly, head directly south from the central plaza until you are about halfway down Vernal Ave.

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Fennekin Herbalist Revitalizing Twig

Talk to the herbalist to learn that you must find a Revitalizing Twig that can perk the Fennekin up. Open your map, then scroll over to Wild Zone 5 (in the north side of Lumiose City). You should see several markers highlighting Revitalizing Twig locations in Pokemon Legends Z-A. However, you cannot reach these unless you have unlocked access to the Lumiose Sewers.

Once you have gained the ability to return to the sewers, go to Wild Zone 5, look for the sewer entrance, then search underground for Revitalizing Twigs. Bring one back to the sick Fennekin and, as thanks for bring it back to health, it will join your party – accept to complete the side quest and get a Fennekin in Pokemon Legends Z-A!

Where to Get Froakie in Pokemon Legends Z-A

    Species: The Bubble Frog Pokemon

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Froakie

The last of the Pokemon X+Y pokemon that you can catch in Legends Z-A is Froakie, a Water-type pokemon that evolves into Frogadier at Level 16. At Level 36, Frogadier will evolve into the Water-Dark type pokemon Greninja – one of the most iconic pokemon from X+Y. To get Froakie, head to the far northeast corner of the map and look for a construction site with lots of scaffolding.

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Froakie Map Location

Talk to the construction site manager, and you will learn that the Froakie sitting next to him has set the record time for three separate scaffolding obstacle courses. Accept the challenge to beat its time, and you will begin ‘A Challenge from Froakie’ in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Legends Z-A ‘A Challenge from Froakie’ Side Quest Walkthrough

Pokemon Legends Z A ZA Catch X Y Starters Froakie Side Quest

There are three timed obstacle courses that you must beat to get Froakie in Pokemon Legends Z-A. The first requires you to finish the course in under 30 seconds, the second under 40 seconds, and the last must be completed in under 50 seconds. Don’t worry too much – there aren’t any damaging Thorns or similar obstacles to avoid, just a perilous platforming challenge that you can restart with no consequences.

    • The first obstacle course begins where you picked up the side quest.

      1. Go up, then turn left, climb up the ramp, then loop left and climb the ladder upward.
      2. Turn around and drop down onto the platform below, continue along the railing, then climb the ladder to get to the top.
    • The second obstacle course is right behind the first one, by the building on the opposite side of the square.

      1. Follow the path forward, turn right, and align your camera with your character. Keep your thumb on the right analog stick to re-adjust your camera during this obstacle course.
      2. Carefully, but quickly, cross the double planks between each of the platforms on this bottom level. You can sprint if you are careful with your movements to save some time.

        • If you fall off here, you should still have time to get back to the start for another attempt.
      3. At the other end, climb up the ladder, then walk across the single planks to get to the final ladder on the other side of this top level. Be very careful here – you do not have as much room for error, so it’s worth taking the time to adjust your camera and walk, not sprint, across.
    • The third obstacle course is a short distance away at the very north of the map. Walk along the city edge heading counter-clockwise (or just fast travel to Wild Zone 4 and go north to save some time).

      1. Climb the ladder ahead, then roll off the ledge directly in front of you. You should land on a platform across the gap.
      2. Turn right at the end of this second set of scaffolding and climb the ladder.
      3. Drop down to the right (without rolling) onto a platform just below.
      4. Adjust your camera so it is perfectly aligned with the single plank that leads across the road south. Carefully walk across the plank to get to the other side.
      5. Walk up to the top of the angled plank ramp in front of you, then roll off the top to get to another scaffold.
      6. Once again, adjust your camera to align with the plank, then carefully walk across to reach the final Froakie.

After completing the third obstacle course, you will successfully complete the side quest, and it will offer to join your party – accept to catch Froakie in Pokemon Legends Z-A!
