iQOO seems to be working on its next-generation flagship model. The brand launched the iQOO 15 in China last October, followed by its India launch in November. Now, the successor – the iQOO 16 – is buzzing on the internet.
While there is no official word regarding the upcoming flagship, the latest information from tipster Smart Pikachu has revealed a key detail about the iQOO 16’s display. Here’s what the new leak suggests:
iQOO 16 Early Leak Suggests 2K Display
According to tipster Smart Pikachu (via Gizmochina), while most next-generation flagship smartphones are shifting to 1.5K displays, Vivo is reportedly testing two phones with 2K screens.
The use of the iQOO 16 hashtag in the Weibo post suggests that the tipster could be referring to the brand’s next-gen flagship. While the tipster didn’t mention the other devices, he might be referring to the Vivo X500 series, as a previous leak suggests that the entire lineup could feature 2K resolution displays.
Other details, like the battery, camera, and chipset of the upcoming iQOO 16 are still unknown at this moment. However, leaks and rumours suggest that the next-gen iQOO phone could feature a 165Hz refresh rate, which would be an upgrade over the 144Hz refresh rate supported by the iQOO 15.
Moreover, the iQOO 16 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship processor, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The chipset is usually unveiled at the annual Qualcomm Summit, which may take place in September this year, similar to last year’s timeline.
If iQOO also follows the same launch schedule as the iQOO 15, the successor could debut in October. Since it is still very early to comment, we expect more details to emerge in the coming days.
