According to the most recent data from the Government of India’s Vahaan dashboard, Maharashtra has sold over 200,000 electric two-wheelers, totaling nearly 2.07 lakh units or more.
According to current estimates, Maharashtra accounts for 18% of the 1,136,015 electric two-wheelers sold nationwide in FY2025. This makes Maharashtra the only state to have more than 200,000 e2W sales in a single fiscal year.
In comparison, Karnataka reported sales of 145,000 units, Tamil Nadu reported 118,000 units, and Uttar Pradesh reported over 100,000 units, establishing these states as the top four markets for electric two-wheelers in the nation.
According to Vahaan data, Maharashtra accounts for approximately 18% of the total EV market, with overall retail sales of electric vehicles in the state totaling 241,000 units.
In the passenger electric car segment, the state has sold nearly 17,000 units, followed by Karnataka at 14,400 and Kerala at 11,700.
