Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.) has officially opened its new Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai, which aims to foster innovation through the integration of digital technologies and traditional craftsmanship.
This facility will serve as a collaborative link between India and Mahindra’s global design hub, Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE), in the United Kingdom. MIDS is poised to play a critical role in developing globally relevant vehicles and experiences while retaining a distinct Indian identity.
The facility’s expansion, which doubles the size of the previous studio, demonstrates Mahindra’s commitment to design excellence as a key component of its product development strategy. Informed Ajay Saran Sharma, Senior Vice President of Design and Head of MIDS, stated that the expanded facility will enable comprehensive project delivery, from initial concept sketches to final production.

“This new structure improves traditional design functions by introducing new roles like human-machine interface (HMI) design, design quality, and realization.” Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed excitement about the opportunities the future-ready Mahindra India Design Studio had to showcase for India and globally.
Bose stated that the studio intends to use advanced design technologies and tools to achieve exceptional design outcomes in both the automotive and agricultural sectors.
He stated that the new studio is expected to attract top design talent from India and establish itself as the country’s premier automotive design center, with a long-term impact on Mahindra’s products. According to company officials, the design studio is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and machinery, as well as world-class expertise, which significantly enhances its capabilities and capacity.
