May 15, 2025: Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI), a dedicated unit for research, information technology, and product development for the Mercedes-Benz AG Group, has chosen Tata Elxsi for its Vehicle Engineering and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Development initiatives.
Manoj Raghavan, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Elxsi, elaborated on this achievement, stating that their extensive expertise in automotive software and digital technologies, particularly Software Defined Vehicles, presents a significant opportunity to support Mercedes-Benz’s ambition to create the world’s most desirable automobiles.

Raghavan further noted, ‘Our partnership with MBRDI has spanned over ten years, and this collaboration represents a pivotal moment, paving the way for the expansion and enhancement of our relationship.’
According to company representatives, Tata Elxsi works with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) around the world to develop SDV platforms, which accelerate innovation and software scalability across multiple vehicle models and platforms while lowering costs and ensuring shared accountability.
They combine domain expertise in autonomous, electric, and connected vehicle technologies, artificial intelligence, and software-defined vehicles (SDV), supported by advanced laboratories and Mobility Innovation Centres, with a suite of solutions that includes the AVENIR SDV suite and AUTONOMAI ADAS suite.
MBRDI officials also stated that for nearly 140 years, Mercedes-Benz has set standards for automotive excellence and continues to lead the industry in software-defined vehicles.
The company’s integrated software architecture aims to improve vehicle functionality, create user-friendly interfaces, and optimise performance, all while improving the user experience and adapting to changing driver requirements.
