MediaTek has added a new chipset to its Dimensity family. The Dimensity 7100 is now live on the company’s product page, marking its entry into the mid-range 5G segment. There’s no phone announced with it yet, but the specs give a decent idea of where this chip fits.
A Familiar Formula, Tuned For Efficiency
The Dimensity 7100 is built on a 6nm process and sticks to a balanced setup. You get an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked up to 2.4GHz, paired with four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at up to 2.0GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Mali-G610 GPU, which MediaTek says offers a modest bump over the previous Dimensity 7050 series.
Nothing radical here, but it looks tuned for smoother everyday performance rather than chasing peak numbers.
Updated 5G And Wireless Support
The chip comes with an integrated Release-16 5G modem that supports peak download speeds of up to 3.3Gbps. MediaTek is also highlighting its UltraSave 3.0+ tech, which is meant to improve power efficiency during extended 5G use.
Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, which is what you’d expect from a modern mid-range platform in 2025.
Camera, Display, And Memory Basics
On paper, the Dimensity 7100 checks the usual boxes. It supports LPDDR5 RAM at speeds up to 5500Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage. Camera support goes up to 200MP sensors, while display features include up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit colour with HDR playback.
These are all fairly standard specs at this level, but they give phone makers plenty of flexibility.
What Comes Next
The Dimensity 7100 doesn’t look like a big shift for MediaTek. It’s more of a steady update that focuses on efficiency and current platform features. The real story will start once brands begin shipping phones with it and we see how it performs in daily use.
