    Pune, 16th April 2025

Mercedes-Benz India recently launched its 200,000th vehicle, an EQS SUV manufactured at its Chakan facility, demonstrating the company’s significant achievement in terms of local production capabilities, having successfully produced 50,000 vehicles in the last two years, contributing to a total of nearly 150,000 units manufactured during the decade spanning 2015-2025.

Mercedes-Benz India has a diverse product lineup that includes locally assembled models like the A-Class, C-Class, E-Class Long Wheelbase, S-Class, and Mercedes-Maybach S 580 limousine, as well as electric vehicles like the EQS 580 sedan and EQS SUV 580. Notably, Mercedes-Benz is the only luxury brand that produces two battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in India.

Dr. Jörg Burzer, a member of Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s Board of Management responsible for Production, Quality, and Supply Chain Management, unveiled the 200,000th vehicle in India alongside Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, and Vyankatesh Kulkarni, Executive Director and Head of Operations at Mercedes-Benz India.

Company officials emphasized that this milestone demonstrates their dedication to the Make in India initiative, which has been powered entirely by renewable energy since 2022.

Mercedes-Benz India’s manufacturing facility has achieved several significant milestones, including becoming the first market outside Germany to produce a Mercedes-Maybach (S500) in 2015. The plant has also played an important role in the transition to luxury electric mobility, as it began local production of the EQS 580 Sedan in 2022.

Mercedes-Benz provides Indian consumers with the most diverse range of ‘Made in India’ luxury vehicles, with an extensive portfolio of 11 locally produced luxury models.

Mercedes-Benz’s manufacturing success is complemented by the most extensive retail network of any luxury automaker in India, with over 100 luxury touchpoints spread across more than 50 cities.

Mercedes-Benz India has the largest network in the luxury segment, with over 100 luxury touchpoints located in more than 50 cities. The brand also has a significant AMG retail presence in the country, as evidenced by its exclusive AMG Performance Centres.

The GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS luxury SUVs are among those made in India. The Completely Built Units (CBU) portfolio also includes models like the G 400d, GLS Maybach, and an exciting range of AMG vehicles, from the AMG A 45 S to the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance. Mercedes-Benz has also dominated the luxury Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) market in India, with a robust lineup that includes the ‘Made in India’ EQS 580 sedan, EQS 580 SUV, and 450 SUV, as well as the EQA 250+, EQB SUVs, EQE 500 4MATIC SUV, Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, and G580 with EQ Technology.
