Shanghai: 24th April 2025: MG has introduced its latest all-electric SUV, the MG Cyber X, at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show in China.
This SUV is the second model in MG’s Cyber series, following the release of the Cyberster roadster last year. During the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, MG Motor showcased its Cyber family lineup, which included the Cyber X ‘Box’ concept, the upgraded MG Cyberster MY 2026, and the limited Cyberster Black 101st Anniversary Edition.
The Cyber X concept signifies MG’s transition from its racing roots to a more comprehensive focus on urban commuting, off-road adventures, and outdoor leisure activities, targeting a younger demographic of adventure enthusiasts.

The refreshed Cyberster models feature two new exterior colors—Iris Blue and Andes Gray—and offer dual-tone interior options in Red/Black or Gray/White.
Notable technical enhancements include a wind deflector that reportedly minimizes cabin turbulence by 90 percent. MG reports that the Cyberster has achieved over 3,000 global sales within six months, establishing it as the world’s best-selling electric coupe.
Designed by Joseph Kaban, renowned for the Bugatti Veyron, the Cyber X is described by the company as a ‘global urban adventure toy,’ merging a tall silhouette with short front and rear overhangs for a distinctive appearance that harmonizes urban and off-road aesthetics.

The MG Cyber X marks a significant departure from MG’s traditional design language, featuring a boxy shape with a stealthy matte black finish that imparts a concept-car allure. Its most striking characteristic is the pop-up headlights, a nostalgic design feature that retracts seamlessly into the body when not in use—a rarity among contemporary production vehicles. The side profile showcases smoked black A- and B-pillars, creating a floating roof effect, further accentuated by two-tone, five-spoke wheels in silver and black.
MG is already experiencing significant growth in its home market, with sales in China reaching 10,000 units in March 2025, representing an impressive 82.6% increase compared to the previous year.
To appeal to a younger demographic, MG has established the Cyber sub-brand, initially focusing on the Chinese market. MG Motors has also confirmed its global aspirations for its Cyber-branded vehicles in India, with the Cybester expected to launch there shortly. Furthermore, MG intends to introduce eight new models over the next two years, including sports cars, sedans, and SUVs, alongside the Cyber X.
