More Sonic and Justice League Crossover Details Revealed

DC Comics and Sega have revealed more information regarding the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog and Justice League crossover comic, including the first cover and details about how the two legendary properties get together. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has been on a huge media renaissance since the early 2020s, as Sega has been putting a lot into making the Blue Blur into an icon across various properties, including the ongoing IDW Comics, the games, and live-action movies, which all have been getting a lot of attention and marketing. One of the biggest announcements made in 2024 was that the Sonic franchise and DC Comics’ Justice League would be crossing over next year.

First announced during the September 2024 Sonic Central livestream, Sega revealed that Sonic and the Justice League will be teaming up in a brand-new crossover comic. The first hint about this was dropped in a short animation where Shadow the Hedgehog took up the mantle of Batman, followed by an official announcement during Sonic Central. It was also revealed that longtime Sonic the Hedgehog writer Ian Flynn would be writing for the series. More details of this crossover have been revealed by DC Comics.

As detailed by ComicBook.com, the main cover of the first issue was revealed, done by Pablo M. Collar, along with confirmation that longtime Sonic comic artist Adam Bryce Thomas would be behind the interior art. The cover shows Sonic the Hedgehog leading his friends into battle, which includes all the characters confirmed for the crossover: Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Silver, and Amy. They are followed by DC’s own heroes from the Justice League: Batman, Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg.

When does DC X Sonic #1 Release?

The first solicitation mentions that DC Comics’ villainous Darkseid is the one who kicks off the crossover, as he’s crossing dimensions to invade Sonic’s world in search of ultimate power. The forces of Apokolips may be too much for Sonic and his friends to handle, so the Justice League decides to lend their aid in fending them off. The first issue of this crossover event will be released on March 19, 2025.

DC X Sonic the Hedgehog will be a five-issue series. Sonic Central showed off some art of the Sonic cast dressed as the Justice League, which includes Sonic as The Flash, Shadow as Batman, Knuckles as Superman, Amy Rose as Wonder Woman, Tails as Cyborg, and Silver as Green Lantern. Longstanding Sonic villain Dr. Eggman has yet to be confirmed for this crossover, though in typical Eggman fashion, he will likely try to control a force beyond his control, possibly trying to team up with or against Darkseid. Many fans are incredibly eager to see the Sonic the Hedgehog and Justice League cross over next year.
