One Piece is dominated by pirates, so it’s hardly surprising that most of the characters in the story are evil and sadistic. For fans, it’s hard to empathize with most of these individuals. But as always, there are a few exceptions.

Some One Piece characters are benevolent, and they go to great lengths to help others, making them more likable. Out of them, the following characters are the most lovable, and they have a massive fan base.

Sanji

Feeds Everyone, Including Villains

Sanji is the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates. He joined the crew after the events of the Baratie arc. Some fans may find Sanji’s romance gag too overwhelming, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is among the most lovable characters in the story.

While working on Baratie, Sanji fed Gin because he knew how horrible it felt to be hungry. Sanji has a soft spot for women, and he comes to their rescue no matter their roles, as evidenced by his rescue of Tashigi. Sanji also gave up his freedom and future to protect Zeff and the Straw Hats. With so many compassionate acts, it’s hardly surprising that so many fans love Sanji.

Bon Clay

Gave Up His Freedom For Luffy

Originally, Bon Clay worked for Crocodile, and he featured as one of the secondary villains of the Alabasta arc. He fought against Sanji in the arc but was bested by the Straw Hat in what was an intense fight.

Unlike most villains, Bon Clay decided to help the Straw Hat Pirates. He tricked Hina with his Mane Mane no Mi, allowing the Straw Hats to escape. Afterward, Bon Clay was put in Impel Down, where he helped Luffy yet again. Bon Clay stayed back in Impel Down, which enabled Luffy and the other prisoners to reach Marineford. Bon Clay has become one of the most popular characters in One Piece because of his efforts.

Corazon

Sacrificed His Life For Law

Corazon was the younger brother of Doflamingo, but he was nothing like him. Corazon was a compassionate person, and that ultimately proved to be the reason for his death. Corazon’s gentle side could be seen when he put himself in harm’s way for Law.

He took Law on a voyage around the world in hopes of finding a cure for the White Lead Disease. After tirelessly searching for weeks, Corazon decided to steal the Ope Ope no Mi and feed it to Law. What makes Corazon’s sacrifice so special is that he had no ties with Law, and yet he went to such extremes to save him.

Whitebeard

Was Ready To Fight The World For His Sons

Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world, but he had no interest in chaos or destruction. He only cared about his family and was ready to fight anyone for their safety, as evidenced by the Marineford War, which was solely fought because of Portgas D. Ace.

The thing that made Whitebeard better than most pirates is that he had the same attitude towards each one of his crewmates. He even sent money to the people of his village, even though they disliked him. Such acts of selflessness have made Whitebeard a massive hit within the One Piece community.

Bartholomew Kuma

Always Put Others First

Bartholomew Kuma’s popularity surged after Oda disclosed his backstory to the audience. The Buccaneer’s entire life has been filled with nothing but trials and tribulations. He lost almost every person that he considered dear to him. Despite losing so many people, Kuma never turned evil and stayed on the path of good.

Bartholomew Kuma gave up his own humanity to save his daughter from certain death. Even after losing his sentience, Kuma continued to fight for Bonney. These altruistic actions have made Kuma one of the most lovable characters.

Chopper

He’s Ready To Help People In Need

Chopper is the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi, which gave him the ability to talk and walk like human beings. Chopper is the mascot of One Piece, and he is among the most popular characters in the series. He has been exposed to the horrors of the world, but that hasn’t ruined his innocence.

He remains a kind-hearted individual who tries to help everyone. Fans love him because of his design, cute personality, and selfless nature. Chopper has become so popular that he has received separate social media accounts, and they have already accumulated thousands of followers.

Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy has taken down many notable enemies, which has earned him a bounty worth billions of berries. Most people think of him as a notorious criminal, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Luffy is a jovial person who is willing to fight evil tyrants for something as insignificant as a meal. So far, Luffy has taken down the likes of Crocodile, Body Jones, Doflamingo, and Wapol, all of whom were malevolent individuals. Luffy’s actions freed thousands of people from their clutches and enabled them to live their lives as they wished. Luffy is also humorous and sometimes a numskull. All these qualities make him one of the most lovable characters in One Piece.
