Design, Build, Display: What’s the Difference

Motorola has consistently equipped its Edge series with curved displays, a trend that also carried over to the Signature. However, the Edge 70 Max appears to be the exception, with Motorola opting for a flat display and a box-shaped frame, trading style for comfort.

The Edge 70 Max also opts for a glass back, compared to the leather and textured back panels we’ve seen on other premium Motorola phones. All three phones offer an IP68/IP69 rating, MIL-STD-810H certification, and an aluminium frame. Finally, the Edge 70 Max is the thickest and heaviest of the three phones, presumably due to its larger cooling system.

All three phones feature AMOLED displays, although the Edge 70 Max boasts the highest resolution of three, while the Signature has the fastest refresh rate. The Signature also uses an LTPO panel enabling an adaptive refresh rate.

Finally, the display on the Motorola Signature is also the only one of the three to support the Dolby Vision format. Additionally, the Motorola Signature uses tougher Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front as compared to Gorilla Glass 7i on the two Edge 70 phones.

Performance and Battery Life: Which One Lasts Longer?

Both the Motorola Signature and Edge 70 Max can deliver segment-leading performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. While Motorola claims that the Edge 70 Max can surpass three million points on AnTuTu, this claim has been tried and tested on the Signature. Both phones also feature incredibly fast RAM and storage.

However, the Edge 70 Max’s new and improved cooling system is tailored for long hours of gaming. On the other hand, the Signature did experience some throttling during longer gaming sessions. Finally, while the Edge 70 Pro Plus’s MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Extreme chip is powerful in its own rank, it barely surpasses the two million-mark on AnTuTu, making it over 30% slower than the competition.

The Edge 70 Max has the largest battery of the three phones, with the Edge 70 Pro+ coming in close second. On the other hand, the Motorola Signature has the smallest cell, although its 5,200mAh battery is larger than the one of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. On the flip side, this also means that the Edge 70 Max has an over 35% larger cell than the Motorola Signature.

All three smartphones support the same wired fast charging speeds. They also offer wireless charging, although the Motorola Signature delivers the fastest wireless charging performance of the trio. Meanwhile, the Edge 70 Max stands out by adding support for magnetic wireless charging, making it more convenient for users with compatible magnetic accessories and chargers.

    Cameras: Quality or Versatility

For optics, the Motorola Edge 70 Max features a 50MP Sony LYTIA-710 main camera with a 1/1.56″ sensor size, OIS, and an f/1.8 aperture. The main camera is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide lens with a f/2.2 aperture and macro support. Finally, the Edge 70 Max opts for a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ boasts a 50MP Sony LYTIA-710 main camera with a 1/1.56″ sensor size, OIS, and an f/1.8 aperture, a 50MP ultrawide lens with PDAF, and a 50MP telephoto shooter with an f/2.5 aperture, OIS, and 3.5x optical zoom. Up front, the 50MP selfie camera supports autofocus and 4K recording at 30fps. The ultrawide, telephoto, and selfie cameras on the Edge 70 Pro+ are likely utilizing the Samsung JN1 sensor.

The Motorola Signature boasts a flagship-grade triple-camera setup complete with a 50MP Sony LYTIA-828 primary sensor (1/1.28″) with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS, a 50MP ultrawide Samsung JN1 lens (1/2.76″) with macro support and an f/2.0 aperture, and a 50MP Sony LYTIA-600 periscope-telephoto shooter (1/1.95″) with OIS and 3x optical zoom. Finally, a 50MP selfie camera sits up front with PDAF and an f/2.0 aperture.

The Motorola Signature easily takes the crown for camera performance thanks to its larger primary sensor and premium triple-camera system, delivering the best image quality and zoom capabilities. The Edge 70 Pro+ offers similar versatility with dedicated ultrawide and telephoto cameras, but its sensors aren’t as capable as those on the Signature. Meanwhile, the Edge 70 Max prioritizes performance and battery life, making its dual-camera setup the least versatile of the three.

Which Motorola Phone Should You Buy?

Each of these smartphones targets a different type of user. The Motorola Signature (Rs 57,499) is the best choice for those who want the complete flagship experience. It offers the best cameras, a premium curved LTPO display, top-tier performance, and the fastest wireless charging, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts and power users.

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ (Rs 47,999) strikes the best balance between price and features. Despite costing nearly Rs 10,000 less than the Signature, it retains a versatile triple-camera setup, a premium design, and flagship-like features, making it the best value-for-money option.

Meanwhile, the Motorola Edge 70 Max (Rs 54,999) is designed for gamers and heavy users. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, improved cooling system, massive 7,100mAh battery, flat display, and magnetic wireless charging make it the most compelling option for users who prioritize sustained performance and battery life over camera versatility.

Motorola Edge 70 Max vs Motorola Signature vs Edge 70 Pro Plus: Verdict

If camera quality and overall flagship experience are your priorities, the Motorola Signature is worth the premium. If you’re looking for the best value, the Edge 70 Pro+ delivers nearly every flagship feature at a significantly lower price. However, if gaming, battery life, and sustained performance matter more than photography, the Edge 70 Max is the phone to buy. Ultimately, Motorola has positioned each device well, ensuring there’s a flagship suited to photographers, all-rounders, and performance enthusiasts alike.
