On August 12, Nintendo confirmed that Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure!, the first game in the Chibi-Robo series, will arrive on the GameCube Nintendo Classics app on August 21. Chibi-Robo will be the fifth GameCube title added to the growing collection, offering a new perk for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack users to enjoy.

Chibi-Robo was originally released in Japan in June 2005 and made its way to the West in February 2006. Chibi-Robo is a platformer that sees players take control of the titular, battery-powered toy robot. The game’s main goal is to collect Happy Points, which are earned by doing various household tasks, like cleaning, throughout the Sanderson household. Chibi-Robo was followed up by sequels on the Nintendo DS and was remade for the Wii in 2009. Though the Chibi-Robo series is now dormant, its original developers have since created an independent successor called koROBO as a Kickstarter project.

Chibi-Robo Is Coming To The Switch 2’s GameCube Collection

    • Launches Thursday, August 21

One month after Super Mario Strikers made its debut on the GameCube Nintendo Classics app, Switch 2 owners will have another title to add to their collections. Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! launches on Thursday, August 21. However, the game will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with the Expansion Pack upgrade. Chibi-Robo is the fifth GameCube title to be added to the Nintendo Classics game collection, and is the only game to be added to the service in August as of this writing. Nintendo released a short trailer on social media to give fans a glimpse at Chibi-Robo‘s gameplay. Once Chibi-Robo is available in mid-August, Switch 2 users must connect to the Internet to download a GameCube app update that will include Chibi-Robo. Once the update is installed, users can then enjoy Chibi-Robo on their Switch 2 consoles as they see fit.

Chibi-Robo was first confirmed to be part of the Switch 2’s GameCube collection during the April 2 Nintendo Direct, along with other games like Pokemon Colosseum. Additionally, Chibi-Robo will also be the first 3D platformer title on the GameCube app, though other Nintendo titles like Super Mario Sunshine are still scheduled to arrive on the service at a later date. Nintendo has not stated when future updates to the GameCube app will occur, so fans must remain patient and vigilant for more information.

While Chibi-Robo is not the most well-known Nintendo series, its quirky gameplay and unique charms have earned it a spot in the GameCube Nintendo Classics collection. Only time will tell what GameCube wish list items will arrive on the app in future updates.
