Nothing has published a new video introducing the Phone (4a), just days before its official launch on March 5. Instead of running through specs, the video focuses on how the phone was designed and why it looks the way it does.

If you’ve followed Nothing for a while, this will feel familiar. The company tends to explain its thinking first, then get to the numbers later.

Nothing Phone (4) Comes in New Pink Colour

The biggest visual change is the pink colour option. This is the first time Nothing has used pink on any of its phones, and in the video, the design team explains why it felt like the right time to do it.

According to the designers, the A-series gives them more room to experiment compared to the flagship line. Pink, they say, isn’t a break from the brand’s palette but an extension of it. Red has always been part of Nothing’s identity, and pink is treated as a softer version of that same base.

The colour also isn’t applied in a simple way. The tint sits within the transparent layers of the back rather than covering what’s underneath. Because of that, light interacts with the resin and glass differently, which adds depth and keeps the internal details visible instead of washing them out.

The Transparent Back Is More Intentional This Time

The Phone (4a) keeps the transparent rear design, but the video makes it clear that more thought has gone into what you actually see under the glass.

The designers talk about representing the real layout of the phone more accurately. Elements like connectors, coils, and internal structures are arranged to reflect how the phone is engineered, not just to look interesting. There’s also more texture and depth across the back panel, rather than it being completely flat.

Overall, the phone is meant to sit somewhere between the softer look of earlier A-series models and the sharper lines introduced more recently.

Nothing Phone (4)’s New Glyph Bar

The Glyph interface returns on the Phone (4a), but in a different form. Instead of a larger matrix, the phone uses a single linear strip made up of six white LEDs. For the first time on an A-series device, Nothing has also added its red recording indicator.

In the video, the team says this red square matters because recording is a serious action and shouldn’t be subtle. The idea behind the Glyphs remains the same: give you just enough information on the back so you don’t have to keep turning the screen on.

They show examples like timers, progress indicators, missed notifications, and camera feedback. Some of these features now tie into Android 16’s live updates system, which allows more apps to use the Glyphs in a consistent way.

    What’s Confirmed So Far

Nothing has already confirmed that the Phone (4a) will use a Snapdragon chipset and will be sold in India through Flipkart. Everything else, including pricing and full specifications, will be revealed at the March 5 launch.
