Nothing and Samsung recently released smartphones in India’s mid-range segment, in and around the 30K mark. While the Nothing Phone 4b and Samsung Galaxy A27 5G aim to deliver the best value for their respective prices, they face stiff competition from one of the best sub-30K smartphones in India.

The Motorola Edge 70 can go toe-to-toe from the Nothing Phone 4b and Galaxy A27 5G. But can Motorola’s mid-ranger keep its crown or will it be beaten by Samsung and Nothing; let’s find out.

The three smartphones target different buyers despite occupying the upper mid-range segment.

    Performance: Motorola Takes the Lead

The Motorola Edge 70 is easily the most powerful device here thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Combined with faster UFS 3.1 storage and up to 12GB RAM, it’s the better choice for gaming, video editing, and long-term performance.

The Nothing Phone 4b sits in the middle with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, offering a healthy performance bump over the Galaxy A27’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Everyday multitasking and casual gaming should be smooth on both, but the Nothing phone has a slight edge.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 70

Display: Motorola Offers a Flagship-Like Panel

Motorola once again comes out ahead with a 1.5K pOLED display that supports HDR10+ and peaks at an impressive 4,500 nits brightness.

Nothing’s AMOLED panel is no slouch either, delivering a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits peak brightness.

Samsung sticks to a Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While it’s expected to deliver Samsung’s trademark vibrant colours, it lacks the higher resolution and brightness of the Motorola.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 70

Cameras: Motorola Offers the Most Complete Package

Motorola packs dual 50MP sensors, including a high-resolution ultrawide camera, along with a 50MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K video.

Nothing follows with a capable 50MP OIS main camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide, while Samsung opts for a triple-camera setup featuring a 50MP primary, 5MP ultrawide and 2MP macro sensor.

Although Samsung has an extra camera, the macro lens adds limited value compared to Motorola’s higher-quality ultrawide camera.

    Winner: Motorola Edge 70

Battery and Charging: Nothing Prioritises Endurance

If battery life matters most, the Nothing Phone 4b stands out with its massive 6,000mAh battery for India.

Motorola counters with much faster 68W charging and wireless charging, while Samsung offers a respectable 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging.

Choose Nothing for endurance, Motorola for charging speed.

    Battery Life: Nothing Phone 4b

    Charging: Motorola Edge 70

    Software Support: Samsung Wins Comfortably

Samsung remains the clear leader in software longevity. The Galaxy A27 5G promises up to six major Android updates, significantly outlasting both Motorola and Nothing, which offer three (or up to four for Motorola depending on region).

For buyers planning to keep their phone for four to six years, Samsung offers the best long-term value.

    Winner: Samsung Galaxy A27 5G

Durability: Samsung Just About Clinches It

Motorola is the only device with IP68/IP69 certification, metal frame, and MIL-STD-810H compliance, making it considerably more durable than the IP64-rated Nothing Phone 4b.

However, the Galaxy A27 5G’s use of flagship-grade Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back make it the toughest of the three phones.

    Winner: Samsung Galaxy A27 5G

Nothing Phone 4b vs Motorola Edge 70 vs Samsung Galaxy A27 5G: Conclusion

Each smartphone excels in a different area:

    • Buy the Motorola Edge 70 if you want the best overall hardware. It offers the fastest chipset, superior display, excellent cameras, premium durability, wireless charging, and the quickest charging speeds.
    • Choose the Nothing Phone 4b if battery life and standout design is your top priority. Its 6,000mAh battery and clean Nothing OS experience along with its unique design, make it an excellent all-rounder at an expected sub-₹30,000 price.
    • Pick the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G if long-term software updates and durability matter most. With six major Android upgrades, expandable storage, and Samsung’s reliable One UI experience, it’s the best option for users planning to keep their phone for several years.

Overall, the Motorola Edge 70 emerges as the most complete package in this comparison, offering the best performance, display, cameras, durability, and charging at the lowest starting price. That said, the Nothing Phone 4b is the better pick for users who prioritise battery life, while the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G stands out for its class-leading software support, making it the ideal choice for buyers who plan to use their phone for years.
