Bangalore, April 22, 2025: Numeros Motors has formed a strategic research partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar to investigate and evaluate various non-magnetic or rare earth-free (RE-free) motor designs.
This collaboration aims to transform the electric mobility sector by identifying reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable motor technologies for India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.
Shreyas Shibulal, Founder and CEO of Numeros Motors, stated that this collaboration will be critical in developing sustainable, affordable, and truly indigenous electric vehicles.
Scaling these technologies is expected to reduce reliance on imports, lower production costs, and significantly contribute to India’s greener and more self-sufficient electric vehicle ecosystem, Shibulal said.
Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, also emphasised the importance of industry-academia collaboration and entrepreneurship, expressing satisfaction in working with Numeros Motors to promote sustainability in the electric vehicle sector.
He also noted the electric vehicle initiatives being pursued at IIT Bhubaneswar’s Research and Entrepreneurship Park. The collaboration between Numeros and IIT aims to foster local innovation in electric vehicle manufacturing by combining IIT Bhubaneswar’s academic expertise in electrical engineering with Numeros Motors’ hands-on experience in electric drivetrain systems.
