OnePlus Is Reportedly Leaving Markets, But India Could Be the Big Exception: Here’s What the Company Is Saying

OnePlus appears to be continuing its long-term investment in India despite recent reports suggesting that parent company Oppo could eventually wind down the brand in several international markets. This story is based on a report by Gadgets360, which includes an exclusive conversation with OnePlus India Director, Sales and Affordability Rahul Arora.

According to the report, Arora highlighted the company’s expanding smartphone portfolio, growing IoT business and wider after-sales network as indicators of OnePlus’ continued focus on India.

The company has had a busy 2026 so far, launching the Nord 6 (Review), Nord CE 6 and Nord CE 6 Lite, alongside products such as the OnePlus Pad Lite, Pad Go 2, Pad 4 and Nord Buds 4 series. OnePlus says its smartphone business grew 74% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, according to CyberMedia Research (CMR).

OnePlus Expands Service Network in India

OnePlus has also expanded its after-sales presence to more than 600 service centres across over 500 cities. Arora described the service network, along with the company’s product portfolio, as an important part of its long-term strategy in India.

The Nord lineup remains central to OnePlus’ strategy in the Rs. 25,000-50,000 segment. The company says the Nord 6, Nord CE 6 and Nord CE 6 Lite each became the best-selling smartphone in their respective price categories on Amazon.in during their open sale days.

Online-First Strategy Continues

While OnePlus has reduced its offline retail presence, Arora reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its direct-to-consumer and online-first strategy. The brand continues to work with retailers including Croma, Reliance, Bajaj and Vijay Sales, while also operating Experience Stores in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The company is also focusing on affordability through No-Cost EMI, bank discounts, consumer financing, trade-ins and upgrade programmes.

Beyond smartphones, OnePlus’ tablet business reportedly grew 23% year-on-year in H1 2026, according to CMR. The company is also expanding its engagement with younger consumers through campus programmes, gaming initiatives and creator-focused campaigns.

While reports have raised questions about OnePlus’ future in several international markets, the company has not officially confirmed an exit from India. Based on the comments reported by Gadgets360, OnePlus continues to position India as an important market, with ongoing investment across smartphones, IoT, software, affordability and after-sales support.
