Oppo may be preparing a subtle but meaningful shift in how it treats its base flagship phones.

Early leaks suggest the standard Oppo Find X10 could receive a significantly stronger telephoto camera than its predecessor, potentially narrowing the gap between the regular and Pro variants. If accurate, this would mark a rare move for Oppo, where major camera upgrades have traditionally been reserved for higher-end models.

What’s Changing From the Find X9 Series

To understand why this matters, it helps to look at the current lineup.

The Find X9 series, launched in October 2025, follows a familiar pattern. The regular Find X9 (review) uses a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor, while the Find X9 Pro steps up to a much larger 200MP periscope camera. That difference has been one of the Pro model’s defining features.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station (via), Oppo is now testing a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for the standard Find X10. If this holds true, it would represent a major jump from the current hardware and a clear departure from Oppo’s usual segmentation strategy.

Why a 200MP Telephoto Matters

The exact sensor hasn’t been confirmed yet. Oppo could reuse Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 or switch to a newer alternative, but either way, it would signal a clear upgrade in both resolution and sensor size.

A higher-resolution telephoto camera could translate into practical benefits rather than just bigger numbers. That could include sharper long-range shots, better low-light zoom, and more flexibility for cropping.

More importantly, it could make the base Find X model far more competitive in the flagship camera space, where zoom performance often separates standard models from their premium counterparts.

A Broader Shift in Camera Strategy

Oppo isn’t the only brand moving in this direction.

OnePlus is also rumored to be exploring a 200MP telephoto camera for the upcoming OnePlus 16. If both brands follow through, it could point to a broader shift toward high-resolution zoom cameras across the group.

The Find X10 series is expected to arrive in late 2026, following Oppo’s usual annual release cycle. Before that, Oppo is likely to unveil the Find X9 Ultra, which could introduce further camera refinements ahead of the X10 generation.
