People planning a phone upgrade in 2026 may face higher smartphone prices and fewer choices, as a global memory chip crunch pushes up production costs. Counterpoint Research expects average handset prices to climb 6.9% year-on-year, while worldwide shipments are forecast to shrink 2.1% after an estimated 3.3% rise in 2025.

The squeeze is expected to hit budget and mid-range buyers the most. We recently shared a list of older affordable and mid-range smartphones hit with price hikes. And those hikes are coming to the premium mid-range OPPO Reno14 series.

OPPO Reno 14 Series Price Hike in India

OPPO has now revised pricing for the Reno 14 lineup, pushing the base Reno 14 (8GB/256GB) to ₹42,999, with the 12GB variants climbing up to ₹47,999. The Reno 14 Pro starts at ₹54,999 for 12GB/256GB and stretches to ₹60,999 for the 12GB/512GB model, firmly placing it closer to entry-level flagships.

To recall, the OPPO Reno 14 price in India was set at ₹37,999 for the base 8GB/256GB model. Moroever, the OPPO Reno 14 Pro price in India was set at ₹49,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant when it first launched in India.

OPPO Reno 15 Series India Launch

These increases highlight how rising memory costs are directly affecting final retail prices, even in segments once known for value. Interestingly, the upcoming Reno 15 series is expected to launch next month with more models than the Reno 14 lineup, suggesting OPPO may rely on portfolio expansion rather than aggressive pricing to stay competitive amid mounting cost pressures.

OPPO Reno 15 Series Specifications

The OPPO Reno15 series has debuted in China with two models – the OPPO Reno15 and OPPO Reno15 Pro – focusing on imaging, battery life, and smooth everyday performance. Both phones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset and ship with Android 16-based ColorOS 16, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Reno15 features a 6.32-inch flat AMOLED display with a 2640×1216 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Reno15 Pro steps up to a larger 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 2772×1272 resolution, retaining the same refresh rate. Camera hardware is a major highlight, led by a 200MP main sensor on both models, supported by a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP front camera. The Pro model adds optical image stabilisation to key lenses.
