The global smartphone industry is facing growing pressure from rising DRAM and NAND memory costs, with strong AI-related demand adding strain to the memory supply chain. As component costs increase, smartphone manufacturers are increasingly passing some of that pressure on to consumers through price hikes.
Against this backdrop, OPPO is increasing the prices of its Reno 16 series smartphones in India, with the latest revision pushing the Reno 16 closer to the price of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26. The price hike could significantly alter the value proposition of OPPO’s premium mid-range offering.

OPPO Reno 16 Series Price Hike in India Tipped
OPPO is reportedly preparing to increase the prices of several smartphones in India, with the Reno 16 series among the models tipped to receive a price revision. The reported hike has not been officially confirmed by OPPO yet, so the revised prices should be treated as tentative.
According to the reported pricing, the OPPO Reno 16 5G could receive a ₹5,000 hike across both variants. The 8GB + 256GB model, originally launched at ₹61,999, is tipped to rise to ₹66,999, while the 12GB + 256GB variant could increase from ₹67,999 to ₹72,999.
The OPPO Reno 16c 5G is also reportedly set to become more expensive. Its 8GB + 128GB variant could rise from ₹46,999 to ₹49,999, while the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants are tipped to increase to ₹53,999 and ₹59,999, respectively.
OPPO Reno 16 vs Samsung Galaxy S26: Price Gap Narrows
If the reported price hike goes into effect, the Reno 16 5G could enter an interesting price bracket in India. The 8GB + 256GB variant would reportedly cost ₹66,999, bringing it significantly closer to the Samsung Galaxy S26.
The situation becomes even more interesting with the 12GB + 256GB Reno 16, which is tipped to cost ₹72,999 after the reported hike. At that price, the smartphone could be positioned almost directly against Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26.
This would considerably change the Reno 16’s value proposition. While OPPO’s smartphone focuses heavily on cameras, design, battery capacity and fast charging, the Galaxy S26 belongs to Samsung’s flagship S series and offers flagship-class hardware and features.
Reno 16 Price Hike Could Change the Buying Decision
If OPPO confirms the reported pricing, the Reno 16 will face a much tougher value proposition in India. The smartphone was officially launched at ₹61,999 and ₹67,999, meaning the alleged ₹5,000 increase would push both variants into a significantly more competitive segment.
For now, however, these revised prices remain unconfirmed. Buyers should therefore wait for an official announcement from OPPO before considering the reported prices as final.
