NEW DELHI: 5th May 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off 200 electric buses from PMI Electro Mobility, which will now take to the roads of Delhi as part of the seed distribution initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.

Dr Aanchal Jain, Chief Executive Officer of PMI Electro Mobility, shared her thoughts during the event, stating that the seed distribution drive is a tribute to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a Green Viksit Bharat. “The seed cards being distributed to users of our green electric buses represent our commitment to sustainability. To everyone who plants a seed, boards an electric bus, or simply chooses a sustainable option—we thank you. Together, we’re not just building mobility,” she added.

With this flag-off, PMI Electro Mobility now operates over 2,500 electric buses across 31 cities in the country. These electric buses are estimated to reduce over 250,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually, totaling more than 3 million metric tons over their lifecycle.
In May 2025, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions emerged as the leading electric bus manufacturer in India, selling 485 units and capturing a market share of 30.9%. They were followed by Switch Mobility with 377 units (24.0% share) and Olectra Greentech with 286 units (18.2% share).
India’s electric bus market recorded a total of 1,571 registrations in the first five months of 2025, demonstrating steady yet uneven growth in the segment.
