Poco X8 and Poco M8 Power Launching in India Soon: Could Debut as Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17

Poco launched smartphones in its M8 and X8 series earlier this year, strengthening its portfolio across the budget and mid-range segments. The company is now reportedly preparing to expand both lineups with the launch of the Poco M8 Power and a new Poco X8 in India.

If recent leaks are accurate, the upcoming handsets will not be entirely new devices but rebranded versions of the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro, which debuted in China earlier this month.

Poco X8, Poco M8 Power India Launch Timeline

Xiaomi has frequently adopted this strategy by introducing Redmi smartphones under the Poco branding for international markets and the latest report suggests the company will continue that approach.

Although Poco has not officially confirmed the launch, tipster Yogesh Brar claims the Poco M8 Power and Poco X8 are scheduled to arrive in India sometime this quarter. That means the announcement could take place within the next few weeks.

The biggest talking point, however, is expected to be pricing, as leaks indicate the Indian variants may cost more than their Redmi counterparts despite offering largely identical hardware.

Poco X8, Poco M8 Power Specifications (Expected)

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Poco M8 Power will be based on the Redmi Note 17, while the Poco X8 is expected to borrow most of its specifications from the Redmi Note 17 Pro.

Another tipster, Kacper Skrzypek, claims the Indian Poco X8 will feature the same 50MP primary camera and 2MP depth sensor found on the Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro. Interestingly, global versions of the Redmi handset are tipped to replace the depth sensor with a more useful 8MP ultrawide camera.

If the leaks are accurate, the Poco M8 Power will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset and pack a massive 8,000mAh battery, making it one of the largest batteries in its price segment. Meanwhile, the Poco X8 is expected to target users looking for improved camera performance and premium features in the mid-range category.
