Owners of electric Porsches now have more charging options through the company’s Porsche Charging Service program. By that, we mean way more—approximately 97,000 stations were added with the inclusion of ChargePoint in the program. This raises the total number of available charging stations to 102,000 in the United States.
Why does that matter? Porsche Charging Service is a subscription that provides easy access to find, connect and pay for charging through Porsche’s app. It condenses charging fees into a single monthly bill for all locations included in the service, and with ChargePoint on board, there are quite a few options. EVgo, EV Connection, EvGateway, Ionna and Electrify America are all included in the service.

Those who use Electrify America get 30 minutes of free charging per session, which should be enough to reach 80% in most Porsche EVs on most chargers. Sadly, ChargePoint doesn’t offer the same free-charging benefit. As for Porsche’s subscription cost, the service is free for up to three years on certain new-vehicle purchases. After that, it’s still free but only allows access to EA stations. Opening up the full network requires the premium plan with a 1-year contract costing $99.
“This is a significant milestone for Porsche and the electric vehicle journey,” said Timo Resch, CEO of Porsche North America in a statement. “We know flexibility and choice are important. As more customers purchase electrified Porsche vehicles in the United States, we are dedicated to giving them the seamless charging experience they expect.”
The news comes as Porsche struggles with waning EV demand and tariffs looming large. The company had planned to be 80 percent electric by the end of the decade, but new investments into internal combustion engines and reported delays of the electric 718 Cayman/Boxster leave that future in doubt. Meanwhile, Porsche’s operating profit is down 43.8 percent and profit margins are projected to drop to 6.5 percent. That’s barely half compared to previous estimates, largely driven by big sales declines in China where its performance EVs struggle to compete with domestic brands.
This charging plan may not change its fates there or here. But it’s a good benefit for existing Porsche EV owners.
