The Redmi Turbo 6 Max could be getting a display upgrade that makes it stand out from other phones in its segment. According to a new leak, Xiaomi’s upcoming performance smartphone may feature a massive 7-inch screen with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. That’s quite a jump over its predecessor, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which came with a 120Hz display.

Redmi Turbo 6 Max display: A 7-inch screen with 185Hz refresh rate

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi Turbo 6 Max could feature a flat 7-inch display with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. If accurate, this would make it one of the more interesting display upgrades in the upcoming performance smartphone segment.

For context, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max features a smaller 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate on the upcoming model could make scrolling, animations and supported games feel smoother. However, the actual experience will depend on whether apps and games support the higher refresh rate.

The display is also tipped to use Low Injection Pressure Over-moulding (LIPO) packaging. This technology could help Redmi keep the bezels around 1mm thick on all four sides, giving the phone a more uniform appearance. Other reported details include rounded corners, BT.2020 colour gamut support and a high-brightness, low-power display substrate.

While the 185Hz refresh rate is likely to grab attention, the combination of a larger screen, sharper resolution and thinner bezels could be just as important for people who watch videos or play games on their phones.

Redmi Turbo 6 Max specifications: What else can you expect?

The display is not the only area where the Redmi Turbo 6 Max could bring an upgrade. Earlier leaks suggest that the smartphone may pack a battery larger than 10,000mAh. That would be a sizeable increase over the 9,000mAh battery found in the Redmi Turbo 5 Max.

However, the chipset could remain unchanged. The upcoming phone is tipped to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor, which also powers the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. If Redmi sticks with the same chipset, the bigger battery and display could be the main talking points of the new model.

Other reported features include a metal middle frame, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor built into the display. The phone could also feature two rear cameras, although details about the sensors and their resolutions have not surfaced yet. Its charging speed is also unknown.

For comparison, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max supports 100W wired charging. It remains to be seen whether Redmi will retain the same charging speed or make changes for the next model.

Redmi Turbo 6 Max launch timeline: Will it come to India?

Redmi has not announced a launch date for the Turbo 6 Max yet. However, current reports suggest that the smartphone could make its debut in China around January 2027.

There is also speculation that the phone could launch in global markets under the Poco brand as the Poco X9 Pro Max. This would give Xiaomi another option in the performance-focused smartphone segment in markets such as India. However, neither the global launch nor the Poco branding has been confirmed by the company.

For Indian buyers, the possibility of a Poco X9 Pro Max is worth watching. A 7-inch 2K display, 185Hz refresh rate and a battery exceeding 10,000mAh could make it an interesting option for people who prioritise gaming, entertainment and battery life. But we will have to wait for official details to know whether these features make it to the final device.
