Samsung One UI 9 Is Coming Soon: These Galaxy Phones Could Get the Android 17 Update First

Samsung is already working on One UI 9, its next-generation Android skin based on Android 17. While the software is expected to debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, many Galaxy users are eager to know when the update will arrive on older devices like the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23.

Although Samsung has yet to officially announce One UI 9, early reports reveal a major visual overhaul, new Galaxy AI features, productivity improvements and a refined user experience. Here’s everything we know so far.

Samsung One UI 9 Release Timeline

Samsung is expected to launch the stable version of One UI 9 with the Galaxy S26 series between late August and September 2026.

Following its usual rollout strategy, the company will first update its latest flagship devices before expanding the release to older Galaxy smartphones.

The Quick Settings panel is expected to feature cleaner, borderless circular toggles, giving the interface a more modern appearance.

One of the biggest additions is Now Nudge, an AI-powered feature that delivers contextual suggestions based on what users are doing on their phones.

For example, if someone receives a location in a message, the system may suggest saving it directly to Maps.

Samsung Internet is also expected to receive a new Ask AI feature capable of:

• Answering questions about online content
• Providing quick AI-generated insights

Samsung is also reportedly adding an AI Assistant Activity Dashboard, allowing users to monitor how AI features are operating in the background for greater transparency.

Productivity Features Get an Upgrade

One UI 9 is expected to introduce several tools aimed at students and professionals. Samsung Notes may receive a new Tape Mode, designed to make memorising text easier during study sessions.

Meanwhile, Samsung DeX is expected to gain a dedicated desktop management dashboard, making it easier to organise multiple windows and manage virtual workspaces more efficiently.
