The Samsung Wide Fold has been the talk of the town for a while. While there is no official confirmation regarding this device, multiple variants of the Samsung Wide Fold have appeared on the GSMA IMEI database.
Samsung Wide Fold Spotted on GSMA IMEI Database
According to an updated report by Smartprix, multiple variants of an upcoming mysterious Galaxy foldable device have been spotted in the GSMA IMEI database, which is rumoured to be the Samsung Wide Fold.
The listing shows regional versions of the same device, including model number SM-F9710 for China, SM-F971W for Canada, SM-F971U and SM-F971U1 for the US market, SM-F971N for Korea, and SM-F971B for global markets.
Earlier, the model number was rumored to belong to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, the same publication later clarified that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 carries the codename “Q8,” following a naming strategy similar to previous generations.
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch two foldable devices. One, carrying the Q8 codename, is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the other, codenamed “H8,” is believed to be Samsung’s wider foldable device. Both models are expected to feature similar specifications, with the main difference likely being the design. However, Samsung has yet to confirm the exact moniker.
Samsung Wide Fold: What to Expect
While there is not much information available about this foldable device,, an earlier report (by ETNews) claimed that the Samsung “Wide Fold” will differ sharply from the tall Galaxy Z Fold design. The upcoming phone could use a wider form factor, making it resemble a compact tablet when opened.
The Samsung “Wide Fold” is also tipped to feature a 7.6-inch inner OLED screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The outer display will reportedly measure 5.4 inches, giving the device a passport-like footprint when unfolded. The phone is also expected to ship with 25W wireless charging.
