Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was a surprising presence at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, but instead of a new game, fans of the FromSoftware title will now have an anime adaptation to look forward to. Since its launch in 2019, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has maintained its spot as one of the developer’s most beloved projects, and getting to see it in a brand-new light with Sekiro: No Defeat is a thrilling promise.

One of the biggest questions regarding Sekiro: No Defeat, though, is how much it will expand on the lore of its source material. As is tradition with many FromSoftware games, the world of Sekiro is both fascinating and mysterious, and this gives Sekiro: No Defeat the chance to dive deeper into certain concepts and features showcased throughout the game. An avenue that would be fascinating to go down is the Young Lord’s Bell Charm and the Hirata Estate. The two go hand-in-hand, and based on the anime’s first trailer, this location will likely be explored.

Sekiro: No Defeat Teases a Battle at the Hirata Estate

Reasons why Fans should be Excited about Sekiro No Defeat

A Refresher on Young Lord’s Bell Charm and the Hirata Estate

In Sekiro, the Young Lord’s Bell Charm is needed in order to visit the Hirata Estate. When offered to the Buddhist statue at the Dilapidated Temple, Wolf will be transported to the Hirata Estate, reliving memories of the place. This is where players can encounter a variety of bosses, and Sekiro: No Defeat is already teasing the adaptation of one particular encounter at the Hirata Estate.

Sekiro: No Defeat is set to be a Crunchyroll exclusive. As of now, the anime is expected to release in 2026, but an official date has yet to be confirmed.

A Glimpse of Sekiro’s Lady Butterfly Fight

There are several bosses faced at the Hirata Estate, but Lady Butterfly is one of the most notable. She can be found in a burning temple, which turns the boss encounter into a beautifully fiery head-to-head moment. While many of the clips shown in Sekiro: No Defeat‘s trailer are brief, a small glimpse of Lady Butterfly’s brilliant white ponytail surrounded by flames can be seen.

With the confirmation that Lady Butterfly will be present in Sekiro: No Defeat, it makes one wonder if the rest of the Hirata Estate bosses will be featured as well. Depending on how many episodes the anime series has, the team behind the show may have to pick and choose which encounters get the spotlight. Beyond Lady Butterfly, there are four other boss encounters.

    • Juzou the Drunkard
    • Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen
    • Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer
    • Owl (Father)

The main boss showcased in the Sekiro: No Defeat trailer is Genichiro Ashina.

Young Lord’s Bell Charm Could Also Introduce New Faces

Instead of showcasing the other four listed bosses, there’s also the possibility that Sekiro: No Defeat could use this as an opportunity to explore new memories of the Hirata Estate. Of course, it’s important to note that this is purely speculation, but it’s definitely not an impossibility. This could be a thrilling way to expand the lore of the original game. Sekiro is one of FromSoftware’s most fascinating worlds, and the anime is hopefully gearing up to bring plenty of new moments front and center instead of simply rehashing the game’s highlights.

    Sekiro_ No Defeat anime

Only time will tell what Sekiro: No Defeat has in store for fans of the beloved title, but so far, it looks like a stunning reimagining of one of 2019’s best games. Sekiro‘s boss encounters remain some of the developer’s best work, and getting to see moments like the fight with Lady Butterfly fully animated is an exciting promise.
