A video showcasing the complex process of tinting a Cybertruck has left many viewers questioning how much it costs to tint the highly recognizable vehicle.
On Sept. 9, TikTok user @therealunclemuuk posted a video showcasing the Cybertruck tinting process, which has amassed over 25,600 views as of Monday. In the video caption, he specified that he had tinted a 61-inch windshield.
This video has led many to not only question how expensive the process is but also why Cybertruck owners should consider tinting their electric vehicles.
Should You Tint Your Cybertruck?
There is no overwhelming consensus as to whether Cybertruck owners should tint their vehicles in the first place, as internet forums indicate there are many pros and cons to doing so.
The Cybertruck windshield does already come with a light factory tint. Additionally, many states have laws surrounding the amount a windshield can be tinted. For example, New York law requires a tint to allow at least 70% of visible light to pass through.
When considering adding an additional tint, many Cybertruck owners have warned that the vehicle’s manufacturing is not compatible with the tinting process.
“I went to a tint shop to have this done, and they refused to do it because they say it will damage the vehicle,” claimed a user on Cybertruck Owners Club. “When they use water during the application and squeeze it off, there is nowhere for it to go, they said it would run down and damage electronics and the battery. They said even when they use towels and absorbent rope, it is not enough to catch all the water.”
However, many users posted in the forum saying that they tinted their vehicle and were very happy with their results.
“I had it done and no issue so far,” wrote one user. “For the front windshield, you need a shop that has experience with Cybertruck. It’s not an easy task, and some shops won’t do it right.”
How Much Does It Cost To Get Your Cybertruck Professionally Tinted?
If Cybertruck owners do decide to go forward with the tinting process, the price range does vary based on location, the type of tint, and the experience level of the tint specialist.
One tint specialist posted on a window tint Facebook group asking other specialists what they are charging. “What’s the going rate for FULL Cybertruck tint including sunroof and W/S with ceramic? We charged $1,000 today but felt it should’ve been more around $1500 due to the material and extra labor.”
The consensus in the comments from fellow tinting specialists seemed to agree that the minimum price should be about $2,000.
One thread on Cybertruck Owners Club contained users sharing how much it had cost for them to get their vehicles tinted, which also indicated that there was significant variation in how much Cybertruck users were quoted.
Overall, there is not a standard price for tinting Cybertrucks quite yet. There are different quality tints a vehicle owner can receive, and given how the popularity of Cybertrucks is relatively recent, many tinting specialists are still in the process of finding the pricing that works for them.
