Sony seems to be working on its next generation of Xperia smartphones, which will likely include the Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII. While there is no official word regarding this, both handsets were spotted on GSMA’s IMEI database, hinting at an imminent launch in the global markets.
Sony Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII Global Launch Expected
According to leaked information, Sony is expected to launch two upcoming models. The XQ-GE prefix is believed to correspond to the Xperia 1 VIII, while the XQ-GH prefix refers to the Xperia 10 VIII. The presence of multiple model codes suggests that the devices could launch not only in Japan but also across European and other Asian markets.

Although the listings do not reveal any key features of both the Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII, reports indicate that the Xperia 1 VIII is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Moreover, the Sony Xperia 1 VIII is expected to succeed the Sony Xperia 1 VII, which was launched in May last year and was crafted in collaboration with the teams behind Alpha cameras, WALKMAN audio, and BRAVIA displays.
In terms of features, it has a 6.5-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage, which is expandable via microSD card up to 2TB. For optics, the Xperia 1 VII boasts a 48MP primary sensor (Exmor T for mobile, 24mm, 1/1.35″, f/1.9 aperture) with Hybrid OIS/EIS, complemented by a 48MP ultra-wide camera (16mm, 104°, f/2.0, 1/1.56″) and a 12MP telephoto lens.
Moreover, the device packs a 5000mAh battery unit and is claimed to offer two days of usage. Given its predecessor’s features, we expect the next-generation model to bring several upgrades. Stay tuned with us for more information surrounding the Sony Xperia 1 VIII.
