Mumbai, March 10, 2025:
Takashi Nakajima is poised to assume the role of President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) effective April 1, 2025. The management of the company announced this new appointment as part of the annual leadership changes instituted by Honda Motor Co. Ltd.
Nakajima will succeed Takuya Tsumura, the current President & CEO, who will return to Japan at Honda’s headquarters after completing his tenure in India. During his time in India, Tsumura was instrumental in launching several premium models, including the Honda City e:HEV, which marked the introduction of the first mainstream hybrid vehicle in the country.
Additionally, he played a significant role in the debut of Honda’s new global SUV, Elevate, and the third-generation Amaze, while also establishing the groundwork for future launches, including Honda’s inaugural Battery Electric Vehicle for the Indian market.
The incoming President & CEO, Takashi Nakajima, has been serving as the President of Honda Motor Russia since 2021. In his previous role, he was responsible for product planning, marketing, and Corporate Communication for Honda’s automobile sector in the domestic Japanese market. Nakajima has a longstanding association with Honda, having joined the company in 1994, and he brings over three decades of experience.
Throughout his career at Honda, he has acquired extensive expertise through various leadership roles in international markets, including Japan, China, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Russia.
