Tata Power Company Limited, India’s largest integrated power firm and leading EV charging provider, has partnered with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, the country’s top four-wheeler EV manufacturer, to launch Mumbai’s first premium large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The inauguration, held on World EV Day, was led by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, and Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
Located at The Leela Mumbai Hotel near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, the facility is designed to serve private EV owners, taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators, while also catering to frequent flyers, hotel guests, and professionals in the busy Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor.
The hub is equipped with eight fast DC chargers of up to 120 kW, offering 16 bays capable of charging as many EVs simultaneously, making it one of Mumbai’s largest and most advanced EV charging stations. Tata Power confirmed that the hub will run entirely on renewable energy, ensuring a seamless, sustainable user experience.
Dr. Sinha said the launch highlights Tata Power’s integrated approach to India’s clean mobility transition, with plans to replicate such hubs in other cities. Chandra noted that Tata Motors’ partnership with Tata Power has been central to building India’s EV ecosystem, and the new hub marks the first of many joint installations under the TATA.ev MegaCharger network.
The charging hub is part of Tata Power’s growing network of over 5,500 public and captive EV chargers, 1.4 lakh home chargers, and 1,200+ bus charging points across 630 cities. In Mumbai alone, the company has installed over 1,000 green charging points. By 2030, Tata Power aims to scale to 10,000 public charging points and 7.5 lakh home chargers, reinforcing its ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement and advancing India’s green mobility ecosystem.
