Dying Light: The Beast features a wide range of legendary weapons for players to find, some of which are even callbacks to older entries and other games. One of such weapons is called the Ciupaga Axe, which is actually a reference to God of War’s Leviathan Axe. While it doesn’t offer the same frost abilities, it will return to you if you throw it, even at enemies. There’s also a unique ability that lets you farm crafting resources from enemies after you use this axe on them. Here’s where to find it.

Ciupaga Axe Location in Dying Light: The Beast

Players can find the Ciupaga Axe pretty early on in Dying Light: The Beast, as it’s located close to the Monastery where Kyle begins his journey. However, before you head over to the location, make sure you’re at least level six and have progressed through a few story missions to spawn the axe in its location.

Ciupaga Axe Area Dying Light The Beast

Once you’re ready, head southeast of the Monastery (to the location shown in the interactive map above) until you reach a large house with wooden beams in Dying Light: The Beast. There will be several zombies around the house that will start attacking Kyle, so you should deal with them first.

Once you’re done, approach the house from the eastern side, and you’ll see a slanting foundation leading up to the second-floor balcony.

Heading up to the Roof Ciupaga Axe Dying Light The Beast

After entering the balcony, head left and continue running until you emerge into an open area with two rocking chairs. Jump and hold the wooden beams to the left of the chimney and climb up to the ledge. Now jump to the ledge on the right and keep following it around the house.

Follow Along the Ledge Ciupaga Axe Dying Light The Beast

Once you reach the end of the ledge, you’ll need to look down to spot another ledge running perpendicular to the one you’re standing on. Carefully descend to the lower ledge and follow it till you see a small balcony area above.

Grab the Ciupaga Axe Dying Light The Beast

Climb up the balcony using the wooden railing, but keep standing on the wooden railing once you’re up. Look to the top of the doorway of the balcony to spot the legendary Ciupaga Axe hanging on the top in Dying Light: The Beast. Once you grab the axe, you’ll also get a blueprint for it that can be used to craft a higher-level variant of it once you’ve leveled up.

_Throw and Return Ciupaga Axe Dying Light The Beast

Now, you can throw the Ciupaga Axe by aiming it first by pressing “LT” on Xbox or “L2” on PlayStation controllers. If you’re playing with a keyboard and mouse, simply aim the axe with Right-Mouse Click and throw it using the “F” key. Once the axe hits an enemy, it’ll immediately return to you without needing any additional prompt. It also works even if you throw the Ciupaga Axe at nothing in Dying Light: The Beast.

The Ciupaga Axe in Dying Light: The Beast is a clear nod to the Leviathan Axe from God of War, as even its description reads: “In case of throwing, return to sender.“
