As big of a car company as it is, Ford hasn’t forgotten how to have fun. In case you forgot, there’s a rally-inspired Ford Mustang Mach-E which happens to be a hoot to drive. But the Mach-E Rally is merely a child’s toy in comparison to what Ford cooked up recently.
How about a two-door, low-slung, tri-motor version of the road-going electric crossover? Perhaps with some NASCAR bits and pieces to go along with it? Say hello to the Ford Mustang Mach-E NASCAR Demonstrator.
It’s a beautiful beast, this one. Although the specs are still kept under wraps by the Blue Oval automaker, we know that the prototype has no fewer than three electric motors and plenty of power to do some righteous burnouts, as the official photos so kindly show. We also know that there’s a 78-kilowatt-hour battery pack sitting as close to the ground as possible.
Then, there’s the running gear. The suspension, brakes, steering and wheels are lifted straight from Ford’s current Cup Series car, and there’s a full carbon fiber tub connecting everything.
There’s no word on whether the sleek tire-shredding electric crossover would ever make its way to an official race series. But even if it’s just for fun, Ford deserves a pat on the back for the courage to do crazy stuff like this. Beyond that, it’s always possible some of the tech on this prototype might make its way to a car with more purpose. Let’s not forget that Ford announced it would make yet another Mach-E-based demonstrator to go up Pikes Peak later this year.

The teaser published by Ford shows a very wide, very aggressive silhouette of a car. A generous rear wing is surely part of the picture, just like last year’s Supertruck demonstrator—a brute of an EV in its own right, with over 6,000 pounds of downforce produced at speed.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Pikes Peak prototype teaser
This year, Ford will take a shot at the Open Class category record with Romain Dumas at the wheel. He drove last year’s Supertruck, and in 2023, he was behind the wheel of the Ford Supervan 4.2. He’s also the current record holder for the fastest time up Pikes Peak, which he set in 2018 with the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak electric race car.
