Fortnite has been a gaming titan ever since it released in 2017, turning the fledgling battle royale genre into a global phenomenon. Over the years, the game has seen many changes and taken on so many forms, but what remains at its core is the chaotic gameplay that sees players battling against one another in an arena that tests movement, reflexes, building, and, of course, pure aiming skill.

Just because Fortnite is as popular as it is doesn’t mean there isn’t more room in the spotlight. Several upcoming games areaiming to incorporate some of the elements and feel of Fortnite, bringing players to entirely different worlds, ranging from sci-fi islands and sandy wastelands to entirely new environments that capture the same energy as Epic Games’ premier shooter.

    NCORE

From The Streets To The Skies

    • Release Date: Coming Soon
    • Developer: Astrum Oyun
    • Platforms: PC

NCORE is a crazy PvPvE shooter that sends players into an ever-changing arena to fight other players to the death in a modern-day version of ancient colosseum battles. Players jump into the map, taking out any enemies and bosses that stand in their way, which can range from deadly robots to hungry zombies, all while keeping an eye out for any other players who might be looking to hunt them down.

The game is focused more on an extraction-style loop than a battle royale one, but players will still feel all the same intensity thanks to the giant maps covered with loot and danger. Fans of Fortnite will also appreciate the ever-changing arena. Rather than waiting for a whole new season, they can enjoy a completely different environment every time they load into the game, lending NCORE a huge amount of replay value right from the start.

    Time Takers

    Every Second Matters

Time Takers is a mind-bending team-based shooter that takes the concept of using time wisely very literally. Players are fitted with a ticking timer that counts down with every passing moment and needs to be carefully managed in order to make it through to the end. Rather than being a traditional role-based hero shooter, players can break out of fixed roles and choose a playstyle that suits them best without any major constraints on their gameplay.

The gunfights are fast-paced and take place across a range of giant structures, making positioning one of the most important factors alongside the player’s aim. The constant motion fills every moment with adrenaline, encouraging players to push on in order to survive and make it to the final fight, where they have to outsmart and outgun the other teams to show the world who the best of the best truly is.

    SAND: Raiders Of Sophie

    Building Rusty Machines Of War

Sand is an interesting PvP game that sends players into an alternate history where giant mechanical bases rule the desert. The main gameplay loop revolves around constructing a moving base to march across the sands in search of loot, but with limited resources and a bunch of other hungry scavengers out there, players will need to ready their guns and launch assaults on any enemy mechs they encounter along the way.

What makes Sand feel like Fortnite is the way that players can construct tailored structures to fight others from, and also how exploration is never a guaranteed path to treasure. There is a constant need to be attentive during every movement on the dunes. One minute it could be a slow stroll under the sun, and the next, a large-scale firefight, all in the name of survival.

    The Cube

    A Map In Constant Motion

The Cube is an intriguing FPS MMO that pits players against each other on a giant floating cube that shifts and moves, changing the battlefield in real time. The game blends extraction systems with a larger-scale multiplayer feel that makes the world seem larger and more alive, but also a whole lot more dangerous at the same time.

Fortnite players will quickly fall in love with the game. Similar to a battle royale, The Cube keeps players on their toes at all times, never giving them a moment to breathe, even when things seem quiet. The blend of intense PvP action and challenging PvE battles ensures that the environment is constantly filled with things to fight and shoot, and the fact that the game comes from an already established developer means that the quality and fun are almost guaranteed.

    Splitgate 2

Bring Portals Back To The Mainstream

Splitgate 2 is a lightning-fast shooter that takes the mechanic of teleportation portals and gives that power to every single player on the battlefield. Movement is key, as players can quickly launch themselves from location to location thanks to some handy momentum and the freedom that comes with having a portal placer right in the palm of their hands.

The game even has its own battle royale mode, which brings that fluid chaos to a larger map, forcing players to use every trick in the book to make it out on top. Originally releasing in May 2025, the game has now gone back into beta for some further refinement. For players looking for the next big multiplayer FPS, this should for sure be on their radar.

    EXOMECHA

    Transformers Meets Battle Royale

EXOMECHA is a passion project come to life. Originally developed by a single person, the team has grown to accommodate the scale and ambition of the game’s concept. Players dive onto a rocky island in the middle of the ocean, gunning their way through player after player until they can finally unleash their EXOMECHA and wreak even more havoc on the battlefield.

The game is about as close as it gets to a Titanfall battle royale. Players march across the map in gigantic mechanical suits fitted with swords and guns to bring even more destruction to every match. It’s just about as crazy as it sounds, and for players who really enjoy titles that push the action to its absolute limit, this just might be their next favorite game.

    Green Hawk Platoon

    Taking You Back To Childhood

    • Release Date: TBA
    • Developer: RetroPixel Digital
    • Platforms: PC

Green Hawk Platoon shrinks players down to action-figure size, immersing them in a world of toy soldiers and sending them straight into the battlefield. The game is imagination brought into reality, taking a childhood game of playing with little green men and creating a game that simulates those battles with as much authenticity and grit as possible.

There’s a lot to love here, from the art style to the gameplay direction, with everything keeping in mind the silly nature of the world the game is set in. With Green Hawk Platoon set to launch with a battle royale mode that sees players fighting across kitchens, bedrooms, and gardens, things couldn’t be any more exciting, setting it up as one of the most exciting upcoming shooters out there going into 2026.
