CHENNAI, 4th June 2025: To strengthen its position in the domestic automotive components market, Visteon, a leader in automotive cockpit electronics and connected car solutions worldwide, has announced a $10 million investment to expand its Chennai facility for the production of high-resolution camera systems and display backlight units.

This new investment is part of the company’s integration strategy. Sachin Lawande, President and CEO of Visteon, explained that localizing the production of camera systems and backlight units aims to strengthen the company’s ability to scale operations and deliver cockpit technologies to global markets.
The new production lines will manufacture both analog and digital cameras with resolution capabilities ranging from 1.3 to 8 megapixels. These camera systems are designed for integration with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and support modern high-definition in-car displays. The cameras will help drivers with navigation, parking, and manoeuvring.

Visteon’s current display manufacturing operations in India are strengthened by the manufacturing expansion. According to the company, this will align display assembly with component manufacturing operations and result in a more integrated production ecosystem for cockpit solutions.
Visteon, which has operations in 17 countries and is headquartered in Van Buren Township, Michigan, specialises in connected car solutions and automotive cockpit electronics. During 2024, the company secured $6.1 billion in new business and recorded yearly sales of about $3.87 billion.

The expansion of the Chennai facility intends to satisfy both local market demands and international production needs. Visteon’s product portfolio includes digital cockpit innovations, displays, software solutions, and integrated electric vehicle architecture solutions for passenger vehicles, commercial transportation, and two-wheelers.
The company partners with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop automotive technologies. Visteon trades on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol VC and operates through a network of innovation centers and manufacturing facilities worldwide.
