Released fully in July 2022, PowerWash Simulator has become a surprisingly big hit over the last two years. Where most modern video games offer countless overlapping gameplay systems and mechanics, PowerWash Simulator has found success in simplicity, with its gameplay loop requiring players to simply wash the dirt off buildings and objects. This simplicity leads to routine, and that routine leads to satisfaction.
But PowerWash Simulator hasn’t just been resting on its laurels for the last two years. Between its launch and its second anniversary, PowerWash Simulator had launched four major paid crossover DLCs, each one bringing in new locations based on iconic franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants, Back to the Future, and even Warhammer 40,000. During the most recent Nintendo Direct, developer FuturLab confirmed that the next PowerWash Simulator crossover DLC was on the way, and this time, players are heading to the Kingdom of Far, Far Away.

Five New Shrek-Themed Maps
The next PowerWash Simulator paid DLC is taking players to the world of DreamWorks’ Shrek. Just like its past crossover DLCs, the main draw of PowerWash Simulator‘s Shrek Special Pack is its five new maps, all of which are themed around Shrek‘s cinematic outings, specifically the first two movies in the current tetralogy. These new stages are:
- Shrek’s Swamp
- Dragon’s Lair
- Duloc
- Hansel’s Honeymoon Hideaway
- Fairy Godmother’s Potion Factory
While developer FuturLab has teased a few of these Shrek-themed maps with official screenshots, it was Shrek’s Swamp that took center stage in the DLC’s announcement trailer. The outhouse with the crescent moon on its door, the crudely drawn “Beware Ogre” sign, and of course, Shrek’s hollowed-out tree home can all be found in the Shrek’s Swamp stage, all covered in a colorful array of paint and glitter.
The Dragon’s Lair – located at the base of Princess Fiona’s tower – and the medieval kingdom of Duloc both come from the first Shrek movie and can be found in this upcoming PowerWash Simulator DLC. Hansel’s Honeymoon Hideaway and Fairy Godmother’s Potion Factory are also included in the DLC, both coming from Shrek 2.
An exact release date for
PowerWash Simulator
‘s Shrek Special Pack DLC isn’t available yet, though it will likely drop in the Fall. An exact retail price also hasn’t been confirmed, though it’ll likely cost $7.99 if it follows the pattern of
PowerWash Simulator
‘s previous crossover DLCs.
A New Shrek-Themed Outfit
Just like the past few PowerWash Simulator crossover DLCs, the Shrek Special Pack will include a brand new visual model for the player-character. This new character model gives the player a shining suit of knight’s armor, which seems to take direct inspiration from Lord Farquaad’s knights from the first Shrek movie. Alongside this shiny new character outfit, players will receive a fantasy-themed washer that gives the tool a sword-like appearance.
As far as PowerWash Simulator DLCs go, the Shrek Special Pack is about on par with those that have come before it, offering five entirely new stages, a new outfit, and a new washer cosmetic. If fans of Shrek are desperate to hop back into DreamWorks’ satirical fantasy universe once again, and can’t wait any longer for the upcoming Shrek 5, then this PowerWash Simulator collaboration should fit the bill nicely.
