Unfortunately, the Battlefield 6 open beta is now over, and fans will now have to wait until 10th October 2025 to jump back into the action when the full game releases. For those who didn’t get to experience the beta or only had enough time for a few games, this guide will cover everything we learned from the BF6 beta, while also addressing some questions that weren’t answered across the two weekends.

What Did We Learn From The Battlefield 6 Beta?

From playing the open beta and staying up-to-date with all related announcements, here are some confirmed details for Battlefield 6, which some argue could be game-changing for the series and genre.

How Well Does Battlefield 6 Run?

Surprisingly, given the game’s beautiful graphics and complex destruction mechanics, the Battlefield 6 beta ran exceptionally well on PC.

How Big Were The Battlefield 6 Beta Maps?

There were four maps available in the BF6 beta, and all of them felt fairly small despite being classed as medium-sized maps for the most part. In the full game, there is at least one even smaller map coming, but also larger maps that will hopefully provide that all-out war experience for which the series is known.

What Forms Of Matchmaking Are There? Was There A Server Browser In The Battlefield 6 Beta?

In the beta, players were able to search for individual game modes, and in the second week, a Custom Search was added, allowing players to select multiple game modes, while ticking which maps they’d like to play.

In the beta, there was no server browser, but the full game will reportedly have a better version of Battlefield 2042’s Portal system, this time not hidden behind the Portal name, meaning more players should find it. The devs are also listening to player feedback on wishes for fully persistent custom servers.

There Were Playlists For Locked & Unlocked Classes Regarding Weapons

In the beta at least, there were playlists where any weapons could be used regardless of class, as well as traditional locked-class playlists, where certain weapon types were limited to classes. For example, only Recon’s can be armed with sniper rifles.

This is a contentious topic in the community, with many old-school Battlefield players seeming to prefer weapons being locked, while others prefer the freedom to customize.

    Rush Has Problems

Fans were far from happy with BF6’s iteration of the previously popular Rush game mode, claiming that the maps and teams weren’t big enough.

EA is aware of these opinions, but only time will tell if they are able to fix it in time for the full release.

    The Skins Will Be Grounded

From the skins that have been seen so far in beta, as well as those unlockable via Battlefield 2042 quests, everything so far seems fairly grounded.

This is in contrast to the most recent installments in the series, as well as similar games such as Call of Duty, which feature goofy skins and crossovers, ruining the immersion for some players.

What Didn’t We Learn From The Battlefield 6 Beta?

    battlefield-6-map-sizes-compared-battlefield-4

While the Battlefield 6 beta answered many questions and gave fans a good idea of what to expect, some questions and concerns still linger.

How Will The Bigger Maps Play?

Unfortunately, players did not get a taste of all-out warfare on large maps. As this is a major draw to the series, some players might want to wait until a few days after the full release, giving them a chance to look out for feedback on whether this key feature is nailed.

Will There Be A Full Test Range To Try Out Vehicles?

In the BF6 beta, there was a firing range to try out different weapons. However, not only was this fairly limited in terms of features, but there was also nowhere to test out vehicles.

Hopefully, the full game will have a place for players to try out the various vehicle controls, as otherwise, the only other way would be to learn on the fly. As getting a vehicle is far from guaranteed, this would be very bad.

What About The Battlefield 6 Campaign?

Other than seeing the two factions, NATO and Pax Armata, up close, as well as seeing places around the world where there are maps and presumably campaign missions, there was no taste of the Battlefield 6 campaign.

The locations of conflict from the maps are as follows:

    • New York
    • Cairo
    • Gibraltar
    • Tajikistan

Will There Be Another Battlefield 6 Beta?

Battlefield 6 leak shows off big map sizes

Unless the situation changes and there is a surprise announcement, there won’t be another Battlefield 6 open beta.

From DICE’s point of view, almost everything went smoothly on a technical level, and they’ve already garnered enough attention. It’s best to leave fans wanting more, as the only way to jump back in is to buy the full game, which releases on 10th October 2025.

If players are looking for something similar to play in the meantime, they can check out these recommendations. There is even a way to unlock skins and other rewards for Battlefield 6 by playing Battlefield 2042.
