WWDC 2026: Apple Introduces iOS 27 with Next-Gen Apple Intelligence and Redesigned Siri AI

Apple officially unveiled iOS 27 at WWDC 2026, introducing a major upgrade focused on performance, usability, and artificial intelligence. The latest iPhone software builds on the foundation laid by iOS 26, bringing refinements to the Liquid Glass design language while expanding Apple Intelligence across the operating system. Apple has also confirmed that iOS 27 will support devices as old as the iPhone 11 series, extending software support for millions of users.

Liquid Glass Gets Practical Improvements

One of the biggest visual changes in iOS 27 is the refinement of Apple’s Liquid Glass interface. While the design language introduced in iOS 26 delivered a more dynamic and reflective look, some users criticized its impact on readability.

To address these concerns, Apple is introducing a new opacity slider that allows users to adjust the transparency of interface elements such as tab bars and menus. The update aims to improve text clarity while preserving the visual appeal of the Liquid Glass aesthetic.

Apple Intelligence Becomes More Context-Aware

Apple describes iOS 27 as the next generation of Apple Intelligence, powered by a new architecture designed to make AI features more useful across the system.

With on-screen awareness, Apple Intelligence can understand content currently displayed in apps, websites, and other live views. This allows the system to provide more relevant assistance based on what users are viewing at a given moment.

Apple is also integrating Apple Intelligence into several core apps, including Safari, Messages, and Passwords. In Safari, the AI can automatically organize large numbers of open tabs into related groups, helping users manage clutter more efficiently. A new “Notify Me” feature can monitor selected webpages and alert users when important information changes.

Within the Passwords app, Apple Intelligence can automatically update login credentials for supported accounts with a single tap, streamlining account management and security.

Siri AI Brings a More Conversational Experience

A major highlight of iOS 27 is the introduction of Siri AI, Apple’s redesigned digital assistant. The company says the new assistant delivers a more natural and conversational experience, with responses appearing through Dynamic Island for a more integrated interface.

Apple has also revamped Siri’s voice experience, allowing users to customize speaking speed and response style. For users who prefer typing, iOS 27 introduces a dedicated Siri app that stores conversation history and syncs it across Apple devices via iCloud.

The new Siri app is designed to help users revisit previous conversations and continue tasks seamlessly across devices.

New AI Features Arrive in the Camera App

Apple is extending Siri AI to the Camera app with a dedicated AI mode. When activated, Siri can identify objects visible through the camera viewfinder and answer questions about them in real time.

Users can also continue conversations about recognized objects, with those interactions saved inside the Siri app for future reference. At launch, Siri AI and its advanced capabilities will be available in English, with support for additional languages expected later.

Apple’s AI Push Faces Growing Competition
