Xiaomi 17T Launch in India Confirmed for June 4, Leica Cameras Teased

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomi 17T will launch in India on June 4. The upcoming phone will mark the return of the company’s T series lineup in the country after nearly three years.

The last T series device launched in India was the Xiaomi 11T back in 2022. Since then, Xiaomi has largely focused on its numbered flagship lineup and Redmi devices in the Indian market.

The company recently started teasing the new device online with the tagline “The T is coming”, and it has now locked in the official launch date.

Leica Cameras Confirmed

Xiaomi has already revealed part of the phone’s rear design ahead of launch. The teaser images show a square-shaped camera module with Leica branding on the back, suggesting the company is continuing its camera partnership for the new device as well.

While Xiaomi hasn’t officially confirmed the hardware details yet, leaks suggest the Xiaomi 17T could feature a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor and a dedicated telephoto camera.

The phone is also expected to include an ultrawide camera and a 32-megapixel front-facing sensor for selfies and video calls.

Dimensity Chip And Big Battery Tipped

Reports suggest the Xiaomi 17T may run on a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. The processor is expected to target the premium segment and could be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Battery capacity may also be one of the major highlights. The device is tipped to pack a 6,500mAh battery, which would be noticeably larger than what most phones in this segment currently offer.

Globally, Xiaomi is expected to unveil both the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro later this month. However, current reports indicate that India may only get the standard model for now.

Pricing details are still under wraps, though leaks suggest Xiaomi could position the device in the premium category instead of the traditional upper mid-range segment the T series was earlier associated with.
