The VinFast VF8 was the first electric vehicle sold by the Vietnamese automaker in the United States. It’s designed by Pininfarina and engineered by the same Tata Motors that’s behind Jaguar and Land Rover.
In theory, it has all the right ingredients to be a great EV. In reality, though, it’s not exactly a polished product, as several reviewers–including those here at InsideEVs–have found out. From the jarring ride and lackluster software experience to the very annoying audible alerts and alleged rushed development, the VinFast VF8 has its fair share of flaws.
However, the up-and-coming automaker is now offering a stellar lease deal on the VF8 that might just be enough to eclipse all its shortcomings.

The offer is valid on new 2025 VinFast VF8 Eco EVs. That’s the base spec of the electric midsize crossover which is powered by two electric motors and has an EPA-rated driving range of 256 miles. The maximum power is 349 horsepower and the battery has a useable capacity of 87.7 kilowatt-hours. Charging the car from 10% to 70% state of charge takes 31 minutes on a DC fast charger, according to VinFast.

The monthly lease is $279 per month for 24 months with 10,000 miles per year. There’s no down payment and no security deposit, but customers have to pay a $695 acquisition fee along with the first month’s payment when signing the contract. Additionally, the customer has to pay for insurance.
The original MSRP of the base trim is $47,200 including a destination handling fee of $1,200. However, VinFast throws in a $7,500 Lease Tax Incentive and an additional $8,470 lease cash discount, bringing the final MSRP of the electric crossover to $31,230. If customers want to buy the car when the lease ends, the purchase price, excluding tax, title and fees, is $24,544. A purchase option fee of $350 is also required.
The VinFast VF8 has a 10-year, 125,000-mile overall warranty, while the battery has a 10-year, unlimited mileage warranty. It all sounds very good, but would you spend your own money on it?
