Motorola recently announced its most premium smartphone in India. The new Motorola Signature aims to deliver a flagship experience at a nominal price, particularly by 2026 standards.

However, given the OnePlus 15R’s sub-50K price tag, one must wonder why the Signature finds itself in the sub-60K segment, despite the same chip. So without any further delays, let’s find out how the Motorola Signature fares against the OnePlus 15R.

    Premium Finish vs Minimalist Appeal

Design comes down to a matter of preference; Motorola features a sleek form factor with a curved screen and rounded sides. On the flip side, the OnePlus 15R boasts a more traditional box design with rounded edges and a flat display. Additionally, OnePlus 15R opts for a more subtle finish, while the Signature’s texture back gives it a stylish look.

Both phones feature aluminium frames and glass protection on the front, although the Signature uses superior Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The OnePlus 15R, on the other hand, has a glass back or fiber-reinforced plastic back, while the Motorola Signature has a twill-like and linen-like texture on back. Both the OnePlus 15R and Motorola Signature are IP68+IP69 rated for protection against dust and water. Furthermore, the Signature is MIL-STD-810H certified for military-garde durability.

Overall, while the OnePlus 15R leans toward a clean, conventional design, the Motorola Signature stands out with tougher durability credentials and a more distinctive, premium finish.

    Flagship Power, Different Priorities

The Motorola Signature and OnePlus 15R both opt for a 165Hz 1.5K OLED displays with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. However, the Signature uses an LTPO panel to ensure better efficiency. Additionally, it is also the brighter of the two screens. Moreover, the screen also offers slightly more screen real estate, although it isn’t by much. Both phones are pretty much even on the display front at least.

Motorola Signature vs OnePlus 15R: Best Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Smartphone?

The two phones are evenly matched in terms of performance, both opting for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The only difference here is that the Motorola Signature does have a 16GB RAM and 1TB storage configuration, although it is significantly more expensive than the OnePlus 15R. So we’ll give this one to the OnePlus 15R thanks to its better price-to-performance ratio.

In terms of battery life, the OnePlus 15R is the clear winner with a significantly (Nearly 50%) larger cell, this is primarily down to the Signature’s sleek design. And while both phones will easily last a day on a single charge, the OnePlus 15R could get halfway into day two with little corners. On the charging front, the Signature has a slight edge with fast wireless charging support.

Clean and Simple or Fast and Flashy

Motorola Hello UI and OnePlus OxygenOS on Android 16 differ in design philosophy and features. Hello UI prioritizes a near-stock Android experience with minimal customizations, while OxygenOS adds bold enhancements for fluidity and AI integration.

Hello UI offers a clean, bloat-free interface with subtle animations and basic lock screen options, emphasizing simplicity and reliability akin to Pixel UI. OxygenOS 16 introduces Fluid Cloud animations, Flux Themes 2.0 for dynamic wallpapers, and Flow Motion for buttery transitions across apps and Quick Settings.

Motorola Signature vs OnePlus 15R: Best Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Smartphone?

Hello UI feels lightweight, but OxygenOS delivers optimized speed and productivity boosts. Overall, Hello UI suits minimalists, OxygenOS power users. However, Motorola takes the win here for longevity, offering three more OS updates and 1 year of extra security patches.

Where the Camera Gap Becomes Obvious

For optics, the Motorola Signature boasts a flagship-grade triple-camera setup complete with a 50MP Sony LYTIA-828 primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide lens with macro support, and a 50MP Sony LYTIA-600 periscope-telephoto shooter. Finally, a 50MP selfie camera sits up front with PDAF and an f/2.0 aperture.

The OnePlus 15R boasts a dual-rear camera setup on the back, with a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary sensor with OIS support and an 8MP ultrawide lens. Up front, it features a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and AF.

Motorola Signature vs OnePlus 15R: Best Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Smartphone?

The Motorola Signature also offers advanced video recording capabilities, more in-line with 2025 flagships, while the 15R’s video capture support barely matches up to mid-range smartphones.

The Motorola Signature’s cameras are a clear step above the OnePlus 15R, offering a versatile triple 50MP setup with a periscope telephoto lens and flagship-level video features. Its imaging capabilities comfortably keep pace with premium smartphones priced under ₹1 lakh. In contrast, the OnePlus 15R’s limited dual-camera system and middling video support feel underwhelming, making its overall camera performance sub-par for its asking price.

Motorola Signature vs OnePlus 15R: Conclusion

Despite the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, the OnePlus 15R and Motorola Signature feature a price difference of Rs 12,000. However, Motorola Signature positions itself as a flagship smartphone, and certainly delivers on that front. Moreover, its camera system is easily the best we’ve tested in the segment and can hold its own against ultra-premium smartphones from Samsung, Vivo, Google, and Apple.

While the OnePlus 15R delivers excellent value with strong performance, a larger battery, and aggressive pricing, it makes noticeable compromises in camera hardware, video capabilities, and overall premium appeal.

For buyers prioritising photography and long-term software reliability, the Signature clearly stands out in the sub-₹60,000 segment. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 15R remains a solid choice for performance-focused users who want the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 experience at a more affordable price point.
