Samsung has officially announced the One UI 9 beta program for the Galaxy S26 series, and India is among the first countries getting access to it.

The update is based on Android 17 and starts rolling out this week through the Samsung Members app. Interestingly, Samsung announced the beta before Google had even fully detailed Android 17 publicly during its Android Show I/O Edition event tonight.

For now, the beta is limited to Galaxy S26 series users in select markets, including India, South Korea, Germany, Poland, the UK, and the US.

One UI 9 Looks More Like a Refinement Update

At least from Samsung’s initial announcement, One UI 9 feels less like a dramatic redesign and more like the company refining a lot of the small things people use every day.

The Quick Panel is getting more flexible controls now. Users can independently resize or adjust brightness sliders, sound controls, and media widgets instead of keeping everything locked into one layout.

It’s one of those changes that sounds minor initially, but regular Samsung users will probably notice it pretty quickly in daily use.

Samsung Notes is also getting new pen line styles and decorative tape elements for personalization. Samsung seems to be continuing its push to make Notes feel more creative and less like a plain productivity app.

Samsung Is Expanding AI Features Across Core Apps

Samsung is also adding more AI-driven integrations inside system apps.

The Contacts app now works directly with Creative Studio, allowing users to generate personalized profile cards without jumping between apps manually.

It’s a small feature, but it also shows Samsung continuing to blend AI tools deeper into the core One UI experience rather than isolating them into separate apps.

The company is also teasing broader AI features for the stable One UI 9 release expected later this year.

Accessibility Features Are Getting Useful Upgrades

Some of the more practical changes in One UI 9 are happening around accessibility.

Samsung is combining the previously separate TalkBack voice guidance systems from Google and Samsung into a single unified package. That should make the experience feel less fragmented.

The new “Text Spotlight” feature can now enlarge selected text inside floating windows for easier reading, which could genuinely help users dealing with smaller fonts or crowded webpages.

Samsung is also adding adjustable Mouse Key speed controls for smoother cursor navigation.

    Security Is Becoming More Aggressive

Samsung says One UI 9 will now monitor suspicious app activity more actively.

If the system detects high-risk apps or potentially unsafe files, it can automatically block installations and prevent execution while recommending additional safety measures to the user.

Considering how common third-party APK installs and sideloading still are among Android users in India, this could end up being one of the more relevant additions in the update.

    One UI 9 Stable Update

Samsung says the stable version of One UI 9 will launch later this year alongside upcoming Galaxy flagship devices.
