The second half of 2026 is already shaping up to be busy for smartphone launches, and it looks like two more flagship phones could be joining the queue sooner than expected.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, both the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 may launch in September instead of their previously expected late-year timeline. While neither company has confirmed anything officially, the leak suggests development and certification work is moving faster than expected.

The timing is interesting because the earlier report pointed to Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo also targeting September launches for their next flagship lineups. If that happens, buyers could be looking at one of the most crowded flagship seasons in recent memory.
OnePlus 16 Specs and Features
While OnePlus hasn’t revealed anything about its next flagship, leaks paint a picture of a phone that’s doubling down on performance.
The OnePlus 16 is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip along with a BOE display that could offer an unusually high refresh rate. Some reports suggest OnePlus has been testing panels ranging from 185Hz to as high as 240Hz.
Battery life could be another major focus. Multiple leaks have pointed to a battery capacity of around 9,000mAh, which would be significantly larger than what most flagship smartphones currently offer.
The phone is also rumored to include a dedicated AI button, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, dual stereo speakers, and upgraded haptics.
iQOO 16 Specs and Features
The iQOO 16 is shaping up to be equally ambitious.
Leaked specifications suggest a 2K LTPO OLED display with refresh rates ranging between 165Hz and 185Hz. The phone is also expected to use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, paired with next-generation LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage.
Camera hardware could include three 50MP sensors covering primary, ultrawide, and periscope zoom duties.
Perhaps the biggest talking point is the battery. Current leaks point to an 8,500mAh cell, alongside support for 100W wireless charging. If accurate, it would make the iQOO 16 one of the largest-battery flagship phones on the market.
Other rumored features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, IP69 rating, USB 3.2 support, upgraded cooling, and symmetrical stereo speakers.
Why Launch Earlier?
One possible explanation is Apple’s annual iPhone launch cycle.
The iPhone 18 Pro series is widely expected to arrive in September, following Apple’s usual schedule. Launching before or around the same time could help Android brands capture attention before Apple’s announcements dominate headlines.
An earlier China launch could also allow brands to begin global rollouts sooner, potentially bringing devices to international markets before the end of the year.
