1st May 2025: After investing nearly Rs 100 crores in establishing its Gigafacility, Hyderabad-based Cygni Energy has announced a planned investment of Rs 250 crores in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by 2027 to increase the facility’s capacity from 4.8 GWh to 10.8 GWh.
The company recently inaugurated the first phase of its 160,000 square foot Gigafactory, which is located on a 5-acre site in Maheshwaram, Telangana.

The Gigafactory boasts a fully automated assembly line with Poka-Yoke stations and extensive traceability. It also has an Advanced Engineering Lab and a dedicated Battery Management System (BMS) Lab, making it India’s first facility to achieve LEED certification.
Cygni has already secured a 1 GWh order pipeline from BESS developers and automotive clients, and has delivered 500 MWh of batteries for various energy applications.
Their production line can produce 105 kWh liquid-cooled base modules with advanced 314Ah cells, which will be the core components of energy storage containers.

The company has implemented an on-line Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software, which allows for real-time production monitoring, data analytics, quality assurance, and traceability.
Furthermore, company officials stated that they are actively involved in facility research and development, with a focus on sodium-ion energy storage, improved thermal management, and sophisticated Energy Management System (EMS) algorithms. The company is looking into Cell-to-Pack (CTP) and Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) designs and is collaborating with IIT-Madras to advance supercapacitor technology.
