Mumbai, 13th April 2025:
Green Line Mobility Solutions, the Essar Group’s clean energy initiative focused on decarbonizing heavy-duty trucks, has announced a $275 million equity investment to deploy 10,000 LNG and heavy-duty electric trucks.
This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by 1 million tonnes per year. Nikhil Kamath, a serial entrepreneur, has contributed approximately $20 million of the total investment.
Along with the deployment of LNG and EV trucks, funds will be allocated to the establishment of 100 LNG refueling stations, EV charging stations, and battery swapping facilities.
Shedding more light on the company’s operations, Anshuman Ruia, director of Essar, stated, “We are very excited about this game-changing shift in India’s heavy trucking industry.” We see this as an opportunity to contribute to the green mobility ecosystem and invest in clean energy sources to power our electric trucks in the future. This integrated approach will significantly reduce emissions, reduce energy imports, and help India transition to a more sustainable, energy-secure future.

GreenLine’s LNG-powered trucks can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 30%, making them a reliable partner for corporations seeking to achieve sustainability goals, according to company officials.
The company’s fleet of over 650 LNG trucks serves companies in various industries, including FMCG and E-commerce, Metals and Mining, Cement, Oil & Gas, and Chemicals. The fleet has traveled over 38 million kilometers and reduced CO₂ emissions by 10,000 tonnes.
Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., commented on the investment plan, “This investment brings us even closer to our vision of transforming India’s road logistics sector. We request that India Inc. embrace this changing landscape and actively support the transition to a greener, more sustainable future for all.”
Supporting GreenLine represents a commitment to a future in which sustainability and efficiency are intertwined, according to investor and entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath, who stated, “The logistics sector must advance—more rapidly, cleanly, and intelligently.” Green mobility is more than just a trend; it is the unavoidable future. More businesses must embrace this change, implement green technologies, and reconsider large-scale transportation methods. This transformation is taking place, whether you choose to participate or not.
