Innocn launched the 49Q1R super-ultrawide, curved OLED gaming monitor earlier this year, and it is the cheapest offering in that category, boasting impressive performance and features. Those looking to upgrade their gaming setup can now grab this massive monitor for even cheaper as it is currently on sale via Amazon. The Innocn monitor not only allows for a more immersive gaming experience, it also improves productivity by giving you two 27-inch displays side-by-side. This makes it ideal for gaming on both PC and consoles.

LG’s 480Hz Gaming Monitor Gives Esports Pros an OLED Option

LG’s new 27-inch QHD monitor lets gamers with the fastest reaction times discover the advantages of OLED panels.

The 49Q1R from Innocn is a super-ultrawide, curved OLED gaming monitor that boasts a 144Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time. The monitor is color-calibrated out of the box and offers vibrant picture quality. It supports HDR 400 and Adaptive Sync for smooth and tear-free gaming. The INNOCN 49Q1R is one of the cheapest 49-inch OLED gaming monitors on the market.

This super-ultrawide, curved gaming monitor comes in at 49 inches and boasts a resolution of 5120×1440, giving it a 32:9 aspect ratio. This is equivalent to having two 27-inch, 16:9 displays next to each other, without any bezels. Designed as a gaming display, it is capable of a 144Hz refresh rate and, thanks to it being an OLED panel, you get an extremely fast response time of 0.03ms. Not only are the colors on this monitor sharp and vibrant, but the screen is also responsive, allowing gamers to react as quickly as they possibly can.

The Innocn 49Q1R also comes with Adaptive Sync, which can be turned on through the OSD menu, and accessed via the single multi-directional button at the bottom. Turning this on lets you enable Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreeSync, depending on your GPU. It features an 1800R curvature, bringing the edges a bit closer so your eyes don’t have to travel that far. Furthermore, the matte display helps reduce reflections, which is great when working in a brightly lit room.

Interestingly, besides the physical bezels around the display, the screen has a secondary bezel that runs all around the display. Fortunately, the physical bezel is extremely thin and the secondary bezel, while not as thin, doesn’t take away from the massive screen real-estate offered by the Innocn 49Q1R.

It comes factory-calibrated with a calibration report inside the box. Innocn has tested the two main color modes, sRGB and Adobe RGB, with Delta Es of under 2 (the lower, the better). It also supports HDR 400 and while it may not reach the brightness levels of some of the much more expensive Samsung and LG offerings, it is bright enough for most users. Some of the other features include PIP (Picture-in-Picture) mode, PBP (Picture-by-Picture) mode, ambient lighting (LED bar at the back), and game crosshair. There are two LED light bars at the back that can be controlled through the OSD menu. They are not bright enough to project any ambient light onto the wall behind the monitor during the day, though they do help with wire management at night. The menu does allow you to turn them off completely or choose between a few color and effect presets.

For productivity, you can connect your laptop via the USB Type-C port, which will not only give you a large widescreen display to have multiple full-screen windows at the same time, but it also charges the laptop with up to 90W power delivery. Speaking of connectivity, the ports on the Innocn 49Q1R include two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-C, two USB-A, one USB-B, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. There are 2.1-channel surround speakers built-in as well, but those using the monitor for gaming will prefer dedicated headphones.

MSI MPG 272URX Gaming Monitor Review: An Evolved QD-OLED Panel

OLED monitors have gradually entered the mainstream. Does the MSI MPG 272URX offer enough benefits for a $1K+ monitor?

The included stand has a wide V-shape, and it is large enough to take up a lot of space on a standard desk. Thankfully, it supports VESA mounting so you can get an arm and keep it off the desk. Be careful about the weight rating though, as this is a much heavier monitor than the standard 27 to 34-inch models. If you do decide to keep the stand, it offers height, tilt, and swivel adjustment, and there is a headphone hanger as well.

    Are 32:9 Displays Worth It?

This super-ultrawide form factor has become increasingly common as manufacturers continue to go for larger displays with the objective of improving productivity and game immersion. This form factor presents two 16:9, 24-inch displays side by side, which a lot of people already have as part of their setup. But this eliminates bezels and with PIP and PBP modes, you can have two simultaneous inputs.

There isn’t a lot of content that would span across the 5120 pixels horizontally, plus some games don’t even support this aspect ratio, but more screen real estate is almost always appreciated. For productivity, having multiple fullscreen windows makes content creation much easier. Video editors can have an extended timeline that spans across the entire length of the monitor. Games that do support this aspect ratio look incredible, and FPS games with an increased FOV slider allow you to see more in one frame, potentially giving you an advantage over others without such an ultrawide panel.

It does come at a cost though, as a 32:9 aspect ratio is only possible with 49-inch or wider displays, and they are more expensive than smaller 27-inch or even 34-inch offerings. They also take up a lot more space on the desk and the included stands have to be huge in order to support the weight of the monitor. You will have to invest in a heavy-duty monitor arm if you want to save desk space, which adds to the cost as well.

However, if your desk space allows and if you have the budget, getting one ultrawide monitor rather than two standard aspect ratio monitors could work better.

Innocn 49Q1R OLED Gaming Monitor: Price and Availability

    Buy on Amazon

The Innocn 49Q1R is the cheapest 49-inch OLED gaming monitor and is typically priced at $1000. However, it is currently on sale for $800 on Amazon, making it an even better deal. There is a non-OLED version as well, and that can reach up to 240Hz, so if you prefer the faster refresh rate over the OLED display, the 49C1S is the one for you, and it is also a bit cheaper at $950 standard pricing. It is also on sale, but not for as cheap as the OLED option, currently priced at $850.

If you want both OLED and super-high refresh rate, there is the 49Q1S, but that will typically cost you $1260. However, this model is also on sale right now, available for $1000 for a limited time.
